Quest'anno il concorso Trollbeads vede riportare in Italia lo scettro della vittoria e non potrei esserne più felice; l'intervista a Giuseppe Di Meo (vincitore nel 2016) in qualche modo è stata beneaugurale ;-)Giada Manfredi vince la undicesima edizione del "Trollbeads People's Beads 2019" con il bead in argento "Turtle Flower".
Ora andiamo a scoprire chi si cela dietro questa vittoria.
Giada ha 26 anni e vive in provincia di Lodi.
Ha conseguito il Diploma di Geometra e subito dopo la maturità ha trovato occupazione presso un centro commerciale a pochi chilometri da casa, una vera fortuna. In questo modo ha accantonato l'idea di iscriversi all'Università, dando priorità al lavoro.
L'esperienza lavorativa è iniziata partendo come cassiera sino ad imparare altre mansioni che le hanno dato opportunità di crescita. Ora è addetta al box informazioni dove si occupa della parte amministrativa, ossia far tornare i conti a fine giornata, aiutare clienti e colleghi che necessitano di supporto. Un lavoro dunque di responsabilità.
Nel tempo libero ama disegnare, cucire, fare découpage, incidere oggetti in legno, tutte attività in cui si esprime attraverso la manualità.
Il periodo preferito dell'anno per Giada è il Natale, in cui si adopera a creare nuove decorazioni per addobbare casa.
Adora camminare e, abitando vicino la campagna, appena può ne approfitta per fare delle belle scampagnate, talvolta a farle compagnia c'è la sua cagnolina Nuvolina ma solo quando ne ha voglia, perché dice essere diventata in pigra in questi ultimi anni.
Sin da bambina ha sempre praticato nuoto come sport, l'acqua dice essere un elemento dentro cui si sente pienamente se stessa.
Giada ha anche un idolo ed è la cantante Laura Pausini. Lo scorso anno, insieme alla sua migliore amica, è andata al concerto della cantante e l'emozione è stata grande e unica, trattenendo le lacrime per buona parte del tempo.
C'è un'altra passione che ha a che fare con il bead vincitore e sono le tartarughe. Le colleziona da molti anni, ogni qualvolta si ritrova da qualche parte in vacanza cerca sempre un souvenir a tema "tartaruga", che sia una calamita, un ciondolo, qualsiasi oggetto che possa riprodurla insomma, dichiara infatti di avere una casa molto "tartarugosa"!
Di pari passo la passione si estende alle piante (soprattutto i cactus), ai fiori, alle chiavi ed alle conchiglie, quest'ultima trasmessa dalla nonna, ogni volta che andavano al mare si apriva la caccia alla conchiglia più bella e grossa.

Raccontaci, da quanti anni collezioni Trollbeads e come hai conosciuto il marchio capostipite di gioielli componibili?
Ho cominciato a collezionare Trollbeads purtroppo solo dall'anno scorso, anno in cui sono venuta a conoscenza del brand. Vicino a dove abito non ci sono tanti rivenditori, debbo percorrere 20 km. per averne uno a portata di portafoglio! Ho scoperto Trollbeads in una inserzione su Facebook, c'era la "giornata Trollbeads" ed il "porta un amico", dovevi iscriverti sul sito internet, selezionare il negozio e aggiungere il nome di un amico. Questi passaggi ti permettevano di avere il bracciale in omaggio con l'acquisto di una chiusura e di avere un bead in vetro in omaggio.

Come ti è venuta l'idea di partecipare al concorso?Ti è stato subito chiaro con quale progetto partecipare?
Ho ricevuto via mail l'invito ad iscrivermi per partecipare al concorso People's Bead, mi sono informata un po' e mi sono detta, "perché non provarci?". Non avevo nessuna aspettativa, anche perché ho visto il numero spropositato di partecipanti. Ho disegnato cose che mi rappresentano, in totale ho caricato sei progetti, ero più affezionata a due, ovviamente “Turtle Flower” e “Secret Key”. Quando ho visto “Turtle Flower” tra i 25 finalisti ero incredula! Ero già super soddisfatta e felice che almeno uno dei miei progetti fosse arrivato fin lì, insomma come prima volta che partecipavo al concorso era già una vittoria.
Come hai saputo di avere vinto e cosa hai pensato alla notizia?
Hai dedicato a qualcuno la tua vittoria?
Sono venuta a conoscenza della mia vittoria tramite mail. Erano le 14 e stavo per andare al lavoro, sento il “bling” delle mail, premetto che di solito le leggo solo la mattina, però mi infastidiva vedere il numerino rosso sopra alla casella della posta da leggere e allora mi sono messa a cancellarle, tanto erano tutte mail di negozi che mi mettevano al corrente delle varie promozioni, quando ad un certo punto vedo una mail strana scritta in inglese, inviata da una certa Sally, credevo fosse una spam, la stavo per cancellare quando mi accorgo che c'era scritto il mio nome e “Congratulations! You're the winner of People's Bead”!
L'avrò letta dieci volte per essere sicura, poi mi sono messa a urlare, mio papà e mio fratello che erano in casa si sono spaventati, poi ho chiamato subito mia mamma ed il mio fidanzato per annunciare la bella notizia.
Al lavoro mi hanno vista arrivare più contenta del solito, mi sono dovuta inventare una bugia per tale contentezza perché non potevo dirlo a nessuno fino al 9 agosto!
Questa bella avventura la dedico a mio zio, è grazie a lui che è nata la passione per il disegno.
Lo zio sarà sicuramente orgoglioso della propria nipote ;-)
C'è stata una premiazione ufficiale?
Una vera e propria premiazione non c'è stata, mi hanno contattata da Perlunica poco dopo aver ricevuto la mail dalla Danimarca, dove mi invitavano ad andare presso la loro sede, per un'intervista e per farmi fare un tour all'interno dell'azienda. Appena sono arrivata credevo di aver sbagliato indirizzo! Non sembrava affatto un'azienda, mi ricordava più un giardino botanico, con un ruscello che sbucava all'interno.
Sto aspettando il mio bead in oro 18k che dovrebbe arrivarmi via posta dal 23 di agosto, come anche il premio in denaro specificato sul sito.

Il bead che è stato realizzato, grazie al tuo progetto ed alla tua vittoria, raffigura una tartaruga con un fiore sul dorso del carapace.
Questo connubio ha destato parecchio scalpore tra i fans Trollbeads, chi l'ha amato a prima vista e chi non ha trovato un nesso tra le due cose.
Personalmente rientro nella prima categoria, ossia dell'amore a prima vista.
Puoi raccontarci cosa simboleggia per te questo bead?
In quanto al fiore, molti hanno pensato ad una rosa, io ci ho visto invece una peonia.
Puoi dunque svelarci di quale fiore si tratta e perché proprio "quel" fiore?
Ho letto i vari commenti sul bead che è stato realizzato grazie al mio disegno, specifico che è qualcosa che mi identifica al 100%, mi dispiace che alcuni ci abbiano visto una povera tartaruga impigliata in qualche chiglia o nella plastica, non voglio assolutamente che passi questo messaggio.
L'ispirazione mi è venuta durante un viaggio, vedendo nuotare questa tartarughina sotto di me, mi ricordava un fiorellino cullato dal vento. Quindi ho deciso di raffigurare una bellissima tartaruga, che sembra così fragile e lenta ma in realtà è un'animale molto forte che non si fa abbattere dalle difficoltà che la natura le riserva fin dai primi minuti di vita. Non a caso è diventato uno dei simboli per combattere l'inquinamento degli oceani.
Anche la scelta del fiore non è stata casuale, c'è stata una ricerca sul significato dei fiori, ero indecisa; un ibisco o una ninfea? Un'orchidea o una rosa? Alla fine la scelta del fiore è ricaduta su... (rullo di tamburi..) una PEONIA! Alcuni l'hanno azzeccata, ma pochi.

Ho scelto la peonia perché nel linguaggio dei fiori indica timidezza, pudore e imbarazzo, insomma sono IO! Sono un connubio tra queste meraviglie della natura, così ho deciso di giocarci mettendole insieme per creare qualcosa di unico.
Quando nasce la tua passione per le tartarughe?
La passione per le tartarughe non mi ricordo con precisione quando sia nata. E' qualcosa che mi porto dietro da quando sono piccolissima. Sono sempre stata attratta da questo animale, sia terrestre che acquatico, quando ne vedevo una nelle vasche degli acquari o nei rettilari rimanevo incantata.
Dai progetti presentati al concorso, si vede che hai dimestichezza con il disegno, sei autodidatta o hai frequentato dei corsi d'arte?
Disegno da quando ero piccola, mi ha insegnato mio zio, lui era molto bravo, faceva dei disegni stupendi e riusciva a creare delle sfumature con i pennarelli ed i pastelli che non avevo mai visto fare a nessuno. Quello che ho imparato è grazie a lui, passavamo i pomeriggi insieme e quando ero piccola gli commissionavo dei quadretti da realizzarmi. Conservo ancora alcuni suoi schizzi, li tengo gelosamente nascosti.

Ti piacerebbe trasformare questa vittoria in un lavoro come designer oppure hai altre ambizioni e sogni da raggiungere?
Non si sa mai cosa la vita ci riservi, io sono pronta ad affrontare tutto quello che mi prospetta il futuro, sarei una bugiarda se dicessi che non mi piacerebbe far diventare una mia passione il mio lavoro, ma se non dovesse accadere sono molto contenta anche così.
Infine Giada, raccontaci una curiosità su di te.
Visto che sono un'amante degli animali, il mio fidanzato quest'anno per il mio 26° compleanno mi ha fatto un regalo stupendo, la tartaruga più bella e preziosa che ho: ha adottato a distanza una tartaruga marina a mio nome. Non ero a conoscenza che si potesse fare un'operazione del genere, mi ha donato il certificato di adozione di Legambiente, con allegato una lettera del presidente con i dovuti ringraziamenti e una foto della tartarughina con la sua storia. Il nome della tartaruga è Ondina.
Giada, grazie per avere accettato di essere intervistata, per esserti resa disponibile a raccontare un poco di te con trasporto.
Il mio più grande in bocca al lupo per tutto ciò che la vita può avere di bello in serbo per te e soprattutto ora goditi il meritato successo, sei entrata nell'Olimpo dei designers Trollbeads e nella storia del marchio!
Mi sembra evidente che Giada sia una ragazza piena di vita, di interessi, di talenti, che ama le cose semplici e vere, quelle che alla fine riescono a donare più emozioni.
Lei stessa, attraverso il suo bead, sono convinta abbia donato grande emozione a molti di noi.
A me senza ombra di dubbio.
I beads nascono dalle idee di vari designers ed ognuno conferisce alla propria creazione il proprio significato, ciò non toglie che si possa dare al bead una differente interpretazione, ossia la propria dettata da ciò che suscita o che porta a ricordare.
Questo bead nello specifico, ad esempio, io lo collego a mia nonna, ai miei occhi aveva delle caratteristiche che ho sempre associato a questo animale dal coriaceo carapace, scudo e dimora. Il fatto che lei ora non sia più qui, mi porta a vedere quel fiore come un tributo alla sua persona.
Questo bead mi commuove.
I miei più sinceri complimenti di nuovo a Giada per avere dato vita ad un suo progetto e per avere evocato in me un caro ricordo.

He graduated as a surveyor and immediately after graduating he found employment at a shopping center a few kilometers from home, a real fortune. In this way he set aside the idea of enrolling at the University, giving priority to work.
Work experience began as a cashier until she learned other tasks that gave her opportunities for growth. Now she is in charge of the information box where she takes care of the administrative part, that is, to bring the accounts back to the end of the day, to help clients and colleagues who need support. In his spare time he likes to draw, sew, make decoupage, engrave wooden objects, all activities in which he expresses herself through manual work.
The favorite time of the year for Giada is Christmas, in which she tries to create new decorations to decorate the house.
She loves walking and, living near the countryside, as soon as she can, she takes advantage of it to make some nice walks, sometimes to keep her company there is her little dog Nuvolina but only when she feels like it, because she says she has become lazy in recent years.
As a child she has always practiced swimming as a sport, water, said Giada, to be an element within which one feels fully herself.

There is another passion that has to do with the winning bead and the turtles. He has been collecting them for many years, whenever he finds herself somewhere on vacation she always looks for a "turtle" themed souvenir, which is a magnet, a pendant, any object that can reproduce it, she declares to have a very "turtle" house!
Hand in hand, the passion extends to the plants (especially the cactus), to the flowers, to the keys and to the shells, the latter transmitted by her grandmother, every time they went to the sea the hunt for the most beautiful and large shell was opened.
Among shells, turtles, plants and flowers and handmade I believe that I and Giada have a lot in common, besides Trollbeads ;-)

Tell us how many years Trollbeads collections and how did you come to know the founder brand of modular jewelry?
I started collecting Trollbeads unfortunately only since last year, when I learned about the brand. Near where I live there are not many retailers, I have to travel 20 km. to have one at my wallet! I discovered Trollbeads in an advertisement on Facebook, there was the "Trollbeads day" and the "bring a friend", you had to sign up on the website, select the store and add a friend's name. These steps allowed you to have the bracelet for free with the purchase of a lock and to have a glass bead for free.
Which were your first beads and your first bracelet?
I bought my first bracelet with the "Flower Lock", while the first bead was "Love Conch Bead" of the summer 2018 collection.
How did you get the idea to participate in the competition?
Was it immediately clear to you with which project to participate?
I received an e-mail invitation to register to participate in the People's Bead contest, I inquired a little and said to myself, "why not try it?". I had no expectations, also because I saw the disproportionate number of participants. I designed things that represent me, in total I uploaded six projects, I was more attached to two, obviously "Turtle Flower" and "Secret Key". When I saw "Turtle Flower" among the 25 finalists I was incredulous! I was already super satisfied and happy that at least one of my projects had come this far, in short, as the first time I participated in the competition it was already a victory.
How did you know you won and what did you think about the news?
Have you dedicated your victory to someone?
I learned of my victory by email. It was 2 pm and I was about to go to work, I hear the "bling" of the emails, I state that I usually only read them in the morning, but it annoyed me to see the red number above the mailbox to read and then I started to delete them, so they were all e-mails from stores that informed me of the various promotions, when at a certain point I see a strange e-mail written in English, sent by a certain Sally, I thought it was spam, I was about to cancel when I realized that there was wrote my name and "Congratulations! You're the winner of People's Bead "!
I will have read it ten times to be sure, then I started screaming, my dad and my brother who were at home got scared, then I immediately called my mom and my boyfriend to announce the good news.
At work they saw me arrive happier than usual, I had to make up a lie for such happiness because I couldn't tell anyone until August 9th!
I dedicate this beautiful adventure to my uncle, is it thanks to him that the passion for drawing was born.
Uncle will certainly be proud of his niece ;-)
Was there an official award ceremony?
There was no real award ceremony, they contacted me from Perlunica shortly after receiving the email from Denmark, where they invited me to go to their office, for an interview and to let me take a tour inside the company. As soon as I arrived I thought I had the wrong address! It didn't look like a company at all, it reminded me more of a botanical garden, with a stream emerging inside.
I am waiting for my 18k gold bead which should arrive by mail from August 23rd, as well as the cash prize specified on the site.
The bead that has been made, thanks to your project and your victory, depicts a turtle with a flower on the top of the shell.
This combination has caused quite a stir among Trollbeads fans, those who loved it at first sight and those who did not find a connection between the two.
Personally I return to the first category, that is love at first sight.

As for the flower, many thought of a rose, I saw a peony instead.
So can you tell us which flower it is and why "that" flower?
I read the various comments on the bead that was made thanks to my design, which is something that identifies me 100%, I'm sorry that some have seen a poor turtle caught in some keel or in plastic, I absolutely don't want it to pass this message.
The inspiration came to me during a trip, seeing this little turtle swim beneath me, it reminded me of a flower lulled by the wind. So I decided to depict a beautiful tortoise, which seems so fragile and slow but in reality it is a very strong animal that does not let itself be overcome by the difficulties that nature reserves for it from the first minutes of life. It is no coincidence that it has become one of the symbols to combat ocean pollution.
Also the choice of the flower was not accidental, there was a research on the meaning of flowers, I was undecided; a hibiscus or a water lily? An orchid or a rose? In the end the choice of the flower fell on ... (drum roll ..) a PEONY! Some have got it right, but few.
(and I am among the few who have guessed, cheers!).
I chose the peony because in the language of flowers it indicates shyness, modesty and embarrassment, in short, I am! I am a combination of these natural wonders, so I decided to play with them and put them together to create something unique.
When did your passion for turtles come about?
The passion for turtles I don't remember exactly when it was born. It is something that I carry with me since I was very small. I have always been attracted to this animal, both terrestrial and aquatic, when I saw one in the tanks of the aquariums or in the reptile houses I remained enchanted.
From the projects submitted to the competition, do you see that you are familiar with the design, are you self-taught or have you attended art courses?
I have been drawing since I was a child, my uncle taught me, he was very good, he made some beautiful drawings and he was able to create shades with felt-tip pens and pastels that I had never seen anyone do before. What I learned is thanks to him, we spent the afternoons together and when I was little I commissioned him some pictures to make me. I still keep some of his sketches, I keep them jealously hidden.
Would you like to turn this victory into a job as a designer or do you have other ambitions and dreams to reach?
You never know what life holds for us, I am ready to face everything the future holds, I would be a liar if I said that I would not like to make my job a passion of mine, but if it does not happen I am also very happy so.
Finally Giada, tell us a curiosity about you.
Since I am an animal lover, my boyfriend this year for my 26th birthday gave me a wonderful gift, the most beautiful and precious turtle I have: he adopted a sea turtle at my name from a distance. I was not aware that an operation of this kind could be done, it gave me the Legambiente adoption certificate, with a letter from the president attached with due thanks and a picture of the little turtle with its story. The name of the turtle is Ondina.

It seems clear to me that Giada is a girl full of life, of interests, of talents, who loves simple and true things, those that in the end manage to give more emotions.

The beads are born from the ideas of various designers and each one gives its creation its own meaning, this does not mean that we can give the bead a different interpretation, that is its own dictated by what arouses or leads to remember.
This bead specifically, for example, I connect it to my grandmother, who in my eyes had features that I have always associated with this animal from the leathery shell, shield and dwelling. The fact that she is no longer here now leads me to see that flower as a tribute to her person. Even this bead moves me.
My most sincere congratulations again to Giada for having given life to one of her projects and for having evoked a dear memory in me.

I started collecting Trollbeads unfortunately only since last year, when I learned about the brand. Near where I live there are not many retailers, I have to travel 20 km. to have one at my wallet! I discovered Trollbeads in an advertisement on Facebook, there was the "Trollbeads day" and the "bring a friend", you had to sign up on the website, select the store and add a friend's name. These steps allowed you to have the bracelet for free with the purchase of a lock and to have a glass bead for free.
Which were your first beads and your first bracelet?
I bought my first bracelet with the "Flower Lock", while the first bead was "Love Conch Bead" of the summer 2018 collection.
How did you get the idea to participate in the competition?
Was it immediately clear to you with which project to participate?
I received an e-mail invitation to register to participate in the People's Bead contest, I inquired a little and said to myself, "why not try it?". I had no expectations, also because I saw the disproportionate number of participants. I designed things that represent me, in total I uploaded six projects, I was more attached to two, obviously "Turtle Flower" and "Secret Key". When I saw "Turtle Flower" among the 25 finalists I was incredulous! I was already super satisfied and happy that at least one of my projects had come this far, in short, as the first time I participated in the competition it was already a victory.
How did you know you won and what did you think about the news?
Have you dedicated your victory to someone?
I learned of my victory by email. It was 2 pm and I was about to go to work, I hear the "bling" of the emails, I state that I usually only read them in the morning, but it annoyed me to see the red number above the mailbox to read and then I started to delete them, so they were all e-mails from stores that informed me of the various promotions, when at a certain point I see a strange e-mail written in English, sent by a certain Sally, I thought it was spam, I was about to cancel when I realized that there was wrote my name and "Congratulations! You're the winner of People's Bead "!
I will have read it ten times to be sure, then I started screaming, my dad and my brother who were at home got scared, then I immediately called my mom and my boyfriend to announce the good news.
At work they saw me arrive happier than usual, I had to make up a lie for such happiness because I couldn't tell anyone until August 9th!
I dedicate this beautiful adventure to my uncle, is it thanks to him that the passion for drawing was born.
Uncle will certainly be proud of his niece ;-)
Was there an official award ceremony?
There was no real award ceremony, they contacted me from Perlunica shortly after receiving the email from Denmark, where they invited me to go to their office, for an interview and to let me take a tour inside the company. As soon as I arrived I thought I had the wrong address! It didn't look like a company at all, it reminded me more of a botanical garden, with a stream emerging inside.
I am waiting for my 18k gold bead which should arrive by mail from August 23rd, as well as the cash prize specified on the site.

This combination has caused quite a stir among Trollbeads fans, those who loved it at first sight and those who did not find a connection between the two.
Personally I return to the first category, that is love at first sight.
