Il nuovo bead "Night Shift" è una esclusiva di Beads Fanatic realizzato da Niwa Beads per mano della designer Daraphan Gerasch, autentica artista che conferma, ancora una volta, le sue doti attraverso questo realistico e maestoso pipistrello realizzato in argento.

Precedentemente un drago era posto in cima allo scudo ma pare che, nel 1503, in occasione della inaugurazione della nuova bandiera del Regno di Valencia, la figura del drago sia stata confusa con quella di un pipistrello che decorava l'estremità dell'asta porta bandiera e così da allora il pipistrello sostituì il drago.
Ma esistono altre leggende sul famigerato pipistrello raffigurato nello stemma della città e, la più diffusa, narra degli arabi che, durante il loro dominio nella città, allevavano pipistrelli per difendersi dalle zanzare provenienti dalle adiacenti paludi e l'ultimo sultano sognò che il regno sarebbe stato concatenato alla vita del suo prediletto pipistrello, allevato come un animale domestico: fino a che avesse potuto volare libero, il suo regno avrebbe avuto seguito.
Leggenda prosegue asserendo che, nello scontro tra le armate arabe e quelle di re Giacomo I d'Aragona, il pipistrello del sultano, attratto dalla figura del drago incisa sull'elmo del re, gli volò incontro e in quel giorno Valencia passò dal dominio arabo a quello cristiano. Così re Giacomo I d'Aragona, volle commemorare il pipistrello che gli permise di conquistare Valencia, facendolo divenire uno dei simboli della città.
Night Shift perciò si presenta ad ali spiegate in tutta la sua maestosità e potenza, come un vero ed indiscusso re della notte.
In argento massiccio, dalle dimensioni ragguardevoli (cm.2,7 l'apertura alare e cm.1,5 l'altezza, cm.0,9 di spessore), questo bead è curato nei minimi dettagli, sono ben visibili persino gli incisivi che conferiscono un aspetto decisamente realistico alla espressione del re alato, l'abile brunitura infine evidenzia tutti i particolari di questo pipistrello che si impone come pezzo centrale per collana e per bracciale.

Da bambina ero terrorizzata da questa diceria ed ogni volta che mi capitava di vedere un pipistrello mi coprivo la testa con le mani. Ora al ricordo sorrido ma ancora oggi, se ne incontro uno, la sensazione di paura prevale.

The new "Night Shift" bead is an exclusive of Beads Fanatic made by Niwa Beads by designer Daraphan Gerasch, a true artist who confirms, once again, her talents through this realistic and majestic bat.
Beads Fanatic, for those who do not yet know it, is located in Valencia, Spain, specializing in the sale of modular and customizable jewelery, a reseller of the best brands and emerging artisans. The bat is the symbol of Valencia, which stands out on the heraldic emblem of the city and on the north portal of the Cathedral.
Previously a dragon was placed on top of the shield but it seems that, in 1503, on the occasion of the inauguration of the new flag of the Kingdom of Valencia, the figure of the dragon was confused with that of a bat that decorated the end of the flagpole and so from then on the bat replaced the dragon.
But there are other legends about the infamous bat depicted in the emblem of the city and, the most widespread, tells of the Arabs who, during their rule in the city, raised bats to defend themselves from mosquitoes coming from the adjacent marshes and the last sultan dreamed that the kingdom would be he was chained to the life of his beloved bat, bred as a domestic animal: until he could fly free, his kingdom would follow.
Legend goes on to say that, in the clash between the Arab armies and those of King James I of Aragon, the sultan's bat, attracted by the figure of the dragon engraved on the king's helmet, flew to him and on that day Valencia passed from the Arab domain to the Christian one. Thus King James I of Aragon wanted to commemorate the bat that allowed him to conquer Valencia, making it become one of the symbols of the city.
Night Shift therefore presents itself with wings spread in all its majesty and power, like a true and undisputed king of the night.
In solid silver, of considerable size (cm.2.7 wingspan and cm.1,5 height, cm.0.9 thick), this bead is treated in detail, even the incisors are clearly visible which give a decidedly realistic appearance to the expression of the winged king, the skilful burnishing finally highlights all the details of this bat which stands out as a central piece for necklace and bracelet.
