Intervista con la collezionista Guanita "Mamma Orsa" - Interview with the collector Guanita "Mamma Orsa"

Come ho già scritto, c'è un mondo parallelo a quello dei beads ed è quello dei collezionisti e degli appassionati.
Tra le persone che avevo ed ho in mente di intervistare, c'è la collezionista italiana Guanita "Mamma Orsa" che credo tutti nei gruppi abbiano il piacere di conoscere per la sua passione, che trapela dal nickname, e per la gentilezza che la contraddistingue sempre.
Guanita ritengo sia una persona passionale, che mette tutta se stessa in quello che fa, con dedizione, meticolosità e curiosità, ingrediente ultimo ma non per importanza. Solamente le persone curiose riescono a venire a conoscenza di ciò che ai più resta celato, e sempre le stesse persone curiose sono pronte a condividere le loro scoperte, senza riserve e Guanita ai miei occhi è esattamente così.
L'entusiasmo manifestato nell'accettare la mia proposta ne è dimostrazione ed io sono particolarmente felice perché è la prima collezionista italiana che intervisto e che, guardacaso, pubblico il giorno del primo compleanno del mio blog.
Un avvenimento nell'avvenimento per me! E spero un poco anche per voi.

Guanita, quinta di sei fratelli, è nata a Palermo cinquanta anni fa, dove però dice di non avere mai vissuto. I genitori hanno girato l'Italia per motivi di lavoro del padre, per cui risulta, in famiglia, l'unica "meridionale" essendo i suoi fratelli nati tutti all'estremo nord italico.
Ha vissuto per venticinque anni a Civitanova Marche (MC), per poi trasferirsi a Fano, dove tutt'ora risiede e dice di avere così realizzato il sogno di una casa al mare.
I gioielli sono una passione innata, o meglio, nata con lei in quanto la mamma, sin da piccola, le faceva gioielli con i bottoni e, i gioielli, racconta Guanita, sono una delle sue più importanti espressioni di creatività, essendo molto fantasiosa, tipica caratteristica dei nati sotto il segno dell' Acquario quale lei è.
Un'altra grande passione sono gli animali.
Questa però, rivela, è stata più una conquista.
Da piccola ha visto la madre essere morsa da un cane legato alla catena e questo accadimento l'ha tenuta lontana dai cani e dagli animali in generale, anche per volere della madre stessa. Poi, una trentina di anni fa, un film le ha fatto superare il trauma. Il protagonista del film era un cucciolo di orso polare, al quale un bracconiere mostrò il muso della madre morta, da cui era stata ricavata la pelliccia. Quello per Guanita fu amore a prima vista verso il cucciolo, e data la sensibilità, il ricordo non l'ha più lasciata. Da quel momento ha avuto inizio il sempre maggiore avvicinamento agli animali, persino agli orsi, a proprio rischio e pericolo!
È così quindi che è nata la sua passione per questi splendidi mammiferi che, ovviamente, ha trasferito ai gioielli collezionando orsi, orsetti e orsacchiotti.

Come è iniziata la tua avventura nel mondo dei beads? Ricordi quale è stato il primo bead che hai acquistato?


La mia gioielleria di fiducia aveva in concessione di vendita sia Trollbeads sia Pandora. In vetrina vidi un orso, chiesi come funzionava (non avevo idea dei "beads" se non come termine inglese che significa "perlina"). Uscii dalla gioielleria dopo aver comprato un bangle con stop Trollbeads e l'orsetto di Pandora piazzato tra gli stop. Ecco come sono entrata nel mondo dei beads.

Il tuo nickname rivela una passione. Perché lo hai scelto?

Il nickname è "Mamma Orsa" poiché mi ritengo tale e giustifica la mia presenza su Facebook, che uso per aiutare gli animali in generale tra cui gli orsi, ovviamente, ma anche per essere riconoscibile nei gruppi di gioielli.

Dovendo abbinare un bead al tuo amore per gli orsi, quale sceglieresti tra quelli che possiedi? Quale dunque il tuo prediletto?


Il mio bead preferito in realtà è un charm Pandora: "Orsetto del Cuore Oro", di cui ritengo detenere il record di multipli che possiedo.
Di Trollbeads prediligo senz'altro gli orsi d'argento ma anche i vetri, soprattutto uno, un Unico a fondo blu con i musi degli orsetti bianchi a rilievo.

Quando componi, a quale armonia aneli? Alla simmetria, al colore, alle forme o cos'altro?

Essendo un tipo molto preciso, quando compongo di fatto cerco di pensare a tutto: innanzitutto amo la simmetria, di solito mi attengo a un colore per i vetri, massimo due. Al più compongo i colori dell'arcobaleno. Sto attenta alla grandezza, simmetrica ovviamente, di vetri e argento.

Recentemente abbiamo visto, in alcuni gruppi Facebook dedicati al mondo dei beads, che hai pubblicato delle fotografie rivelando una collezione in cui spiccano beads fotoluminescenti e beads che sono stati trasformati grazie alla tua fantasia. Puoi spiegare questo tuo trasporto e questa tua inventiva come nascono?

Nel mondo specificamente dei gioielli sì, i beads fotoluminescenti sono una vera ossessione tanto quanto gli orsi; grazie ad essi ho composto bracciali colorati, arcobaleno appunto, per sfruttare tutti i beads fotoluminescenti.
L'ispirazione non c'è sempre ma quando c'è non mi fermo più, come ad esempio la modifica all'Orsetto Cuore Oro di Pandora. Mi scocciava il fatto che non rimanesse dritto sulla collana. Di conseguenza ho fatto aggiungere l'anellino per trasformarlo in ciondolo, idem per gli orecchini. Poi lo volevo sulla collana fantasia di Trollbeads, così l'ho fatto letteralmente bucare. Quindi modifiche sia in Pandora sia in Trollbeads.
Ci sono anche due orsetti giallorossi, essendo io tifosa della Roma, ho dunque fatto cambiare lo smalto originario dei fiocchi che erano azzurro e rosa.
Credo che sì, sia una esigenza la mia, che è quella di trasformare in realtà ciò che ho in testa e che non mi abbandona più.

Tra i vari marchi noti e meno noti ed artigiani, quali apprezzi maggiormente?

Non mi affeziono tanto a un marchio quanto a qualcosa che quel determinato marchio fa. Di certo amo Trollbeads per i vetri, Pandora per gli animaletti fuori produzione del passato e di recente tutti i cosiddetti "portapetit": anche qui ho creato un set dove ho messo io all'interno elementi fotoluminescenti.

Da circa una decina di giorni è iniziato il "Peoples Bead by Trollbeads", il concorso in cui tutti possono partecipare come designer. Tu lo hai mai fatto?

Sì ho partecipato un paio di volte al Peoples Bead, volevo fosse rappresentato un orso a rischio estinzione, non tanto perché ce ne sono meno, ma perché la stragrande maggioranza è in gabbia.

Aldilà del tuo amore per gli animali e per i gioielli, quali sono le altre tue passioni?

Amo essere informata, leggere, la musica, i film di Hitchcock e i gialli in generale.


Una curiosità su di te?

Una curiosità è che sono attivista per "Animals Asia Foundation", una onlus che aiuta, letteralmente e anche attraverso la cultura nelle scuole, gli animali in Asia (basta coi cani e gatti mangiati in Cina, l'estremo maltrattamento nei circhi, ecc.). Su tutto però la mozione per la liberazione dei cosiddetti "orsi della luna" che vengo letteralmente "munti" per la loro bile da vivi, con indicibili sofferenze.
Una curiosità invece che riguarda beads o charms: quando mi "fisso" amo i multipli dei multipli, sia di vetri sia di argenti.


Guanita, grazie per esserti raccontata anche attraverso tuoi ricordi d'infanzia, per averci portato un poco nel tuo mondo e per averci mostrato una collezione particolarissima che credo possiedano in pochi, per non dire unicamente tu!

Among the people I had and I plan to interview, there is the Italian collector Guanita "Mamma Orsa" whom I believe everyone in the groups has the pleasure of knowing for her passion, which transpires from the nickname, and for the kindness that distinguishes her always.

Guanita I believe is a passionate person, who puts all of herself into what she does, with dedication, meticulousness and curiosity, the last but not least ingredient. Only curious people manage to become aware of what is hidden from most people, and always the same curious people are ready to share their discoveries, without reservations and Guanita is exactly like that in my eyes.
The enthusiasm shown in accepting my proposal is a demonstration of this and I am particularly happy because she is the first Italian collector that I interview and that, as a matter of fact, I publish on my blog's first birthday.
An event in the event for me! And I hope a little for you too.

Guanita, fifth of six siblings, was born in Palermo fifty years ago, where however she says she has never lived. The parents traveled to Italy for work reasons of the father, so she is the only born in the "southern" because his brothers were all born in the far north of Italy.
He lived for twenty five years in Civitanova Marche (MC), then moved to Fano, where he still resides and says she has thus fulfilled the dream of a house by the sea.
The jewels are an innate passion, or rather, born with her as her mother, from an early age, made her jewels with buttons and, jewels, says Guanita, are one of her most important expressions of creativity, being very imaginative, typical of those born under the sign of Aquarius which she is.
Another great passion are animals.
But this, he reveals, was more of an achievement.
As a child she saw her mother being bitten by a dog tied to the chain and this event kept her away from dogs and animals in general, also at the behest of her mother. Then, some thirty years ago, a film made her overcome the trauma. The protagonist of the film was a polar bear cub, to which a poacher showed the face of the dead mother, from which the fur had been obtained. That for Guanita was love at first sight towards the puppy, and given the sensitivity, the memory never left her. From that moment on, the ever closer approach to animals, even bears, began at one's own risk!
This is how her passion for these beautiful mammals was born, which he obviously transferred to the jewels by collecting bears, teddy bears and teddy bears.



How did your adventure in the world of beads begin? Do you remember which was the first bead you bought?

My trusted jewelry store had both Trollbeads and Pandora under concession. In the window I saw a bear, I asked how it worked (I had no idea of ​​the "beads" except as an English term meaning "bead"). I left the jewelry shop after buying a bangle with Trollbeads stops and Pandora's bear placed between the stops. Here's how I entered the world of beads.


Your nickname reveals a passion. Why did you choose it?

The nickname is "Mamma Orsa" (Ed. in English sounds like Bear Mother) because I consider myself such and justifies my presence on Facebook, which I use to help animals in general including bears, of course, but also to be recognizable in jewelry groups.


Having to match a bead to your love of bears, which one would you choose from the ones you own? So what is your favorite?

My favorite bead is actually a Pandora charm: "Teddy Bear of the Gold Heart", of which I believe to hold the record of multiples I own.
I certainly prefer silver bears from Trollbeads but also glasses, especially one, a Unico with a blue background and the faces of white bears in relief.

When you compose, which harmony do you yearn for? Symmetry, color, shapes or what else?

Being a very specific type, when I compose I actually try to think of everything: first of all I love symmetry, usually I stick to one color for the glass, maximum two. At most I make up the colors of the rainbow. I am attentive to the size, obviously symmetrical, of glass and silver.

Recently we have seen, in some Facebook groups dedicated to the world of beads, that you have published photographs revealing a collection in which photoluminescent beads and beads that have been transformed thanks to your imagination stand out. Can you explain your transport and your inventiveness as they are born?

In the world of jewelry specifically, yes, photoluminescent beads are as obsessive as bears; thanks to them I composed colored bracelets, rainbow in fact, to take advantage of all the photoluminescent beads.
The inspiration is not always there but when there is I don't stop anymore, such as for example the modification to the Pandora Gold Heart Bear. I was annoyed that he didn't stay straight on the necklace. Consequently I had the ring added to transform it into a pendant, ditto for the earrings. Then I wanted it on Trollbeads' fancy necklace, so I literally had it pierced. So edit both Pandora and Trollbeads.
There are also two yellow and red bears, being a Roma fan, I therefore changed the original enamel of the bows which were blue and pink.
I believe that yes, it is my need, which is to turn into reality what I have in mind and which never abandon me.

Among the various well-known and lesser-known brands and craftsmen, which do you appreciate most?

I am not so fond of a brand as of something that particular brand does. Certainly I love Trollbeads for glass, Pandora for the discontinued animals of the past and recently all the so-called "portapetit": here too I created a set where I put photoluminescent elements inside.


The "Peoples Bead by Trollbeads", the contest in which everyone can participate as a designer, has started for about ten days. Have you ever done it?

Yes, I attended the Peoples Bead a couple of times, I wanted a bear at risk of extinction to be represented, not so much because there are fewer, but because the vast majority are caged.



Beyond your love for animals and jewels, what are your other passions?

I love to be informed, read, music, Hitchcock films and detective stories in general.


A curiosity about you?

A curiosity is that I am an activist for "Animals Asia Foundation", a non-profit organization that helps, literally and also through culture in schools, animals in Asia (enough with dogs and cats eaten in China, extreme mistreatment in circuses, etc. ). Above all, however, the motion for the release of the so-called "moon bears" that they are literally "milked" for their live bile, with unspeakable suffering.
A curiosity on the other hand that concerns beads or charms: when I "fixate" I love multiples of multiples, both in glass and in silver.
