La mia recensione del Set Trollbeads Day 2020 - My review of the Trollbeads Day 2020 Kit

Andiamo ora a scoprire i beads.

Buon Trollbeads Day Trollfans ;-)

A presto,

Elena

(I apologize if my translation is incorrect)

My review of the Trollbeads Day 2020 Kit

From 25 to 31 July, Trollbeads Day is celebrated, an international event that sees the company create one or more celebratory beads for all fans.
During the anniversary, jewelers usually organize events with games and surprises to cheer customers and free gadgets for those who make a purchase.
This year, due to Covid 19, not being able to create "gatherings", the company has decided to extend the opportunity to go to jewelry for a whole week and thus view the new six beads dedicated to 2020.

The first year in which Trollbeads started this day of celebration was 2014, the celebratory "Trollbeads Day Bead" reproduces "Three Guardians" in silver, by designer Søren Nielsen.
The "Trollbeads Day Bead 2015" is faceted glass bead by designer Lise Aagaard.
In 2016, the 40th anniversary of the company founded in 1976, a gold "Clover Bead" was made, followed by the silver "Lucky Friends Bracelet" in silver, with clasp and bead depicting a whole of four-leaf clovers, by designer Søren Nielsen.
The "Trollbeads Day 2017 Bead" is "Golden Rutilated Quartz", a stone by designer Lise Aagaard.
2018 was the year in which it was celebrated with two amber beads to which small silver bees were superimposed: "Wings of Amber Single" and "Wings of Amber with Two Bead", by designer Lise Aagaard.
The "Trollbeads Day 2019" start a new material became part of the collection, thus celebrated with the "Chinese Porcelain" set.
All the beads are engraved with the year of release and have been produced in a limited edition, therefore collector's jewelry in all respects.

For this 2020 Trollbeads has created a Limited Edition Kit, created to celebrate Trollbeads Day.
Conceived by the designer Neetu Gupta, it is made up of six glass beads with vivid shades and a particular process that includes engraving and two-tone.

Seen together they create a delicious harmony, to the point of evoking the summer in all its nuances and interpretations of light-heartedness and fun.
Some names refer to fruits and it is therefore inevitable to imagine their aromas and flavors.

My first sensation was to visualize exotic places, flowers, clear waters, the joy therefore of a bracelet full of colors.

Colors are precisely the strength of the designer Neetu Gupta, as told in the pages of the Trollbeads site, the colors and nature of India, the land from which it comes and takes inspiration.

Let's go now to discover the beads.

"Lime Leaves Bead" inside has two contrasting lime green shades, one darker and the other lighter, creating an overlapping leaf motif.
The external part of the bead, in transparent glass, has carved all around, in a transversal way, six twigs with small leaves.
I find this bead very beautiful, finely worked both inside in the play of colors and outside with the engraving, it has a very graceful allure.

Referring to the plant, lime is a cross between cedar and lemon, cultivated in Persia in antiquity, it arrives in Europe in the colonial era. England is one of the countries that uses it most, replacing it with lemon and making it come directly from India. Its marketing therefore begins in England. Citrus with multiple properties, in 1800 it is used in ships to prevent scurvy, a food deficiency disease in which insufficient absorption of vitamin C is detected.

What if we talked about cocktails?
Which comes to mind among the first ones?
I bet the notorious "Mojito" ;-)  cocktail of Cuban origin which, coincidentally, has lime among its ingredients!
How do you prepare it?
Put in a tall "tumbler" glass, two teaspoons of brown sugar and eight mint leaves to be pressed with a pestle, then the juice of a lime, stirring gently adding 50 ml of rum, a few ice cubes and a spray of soda or carbonated water. To decorate, a slice of lime to be engraved and stuck on the edge of the glass or a sprig of mint.

"Raspberry Bush Bead" has a beautiful shade of bright pink that recalls the fruit; the incision on the outside of the glass shows four twigs, with three small leaves, which turn around.
The color of this bead has literally enchanted me. I find it looks like the basic color of the faceted "Flow of Love" bead, made for Mother's Day 2019. I find them a beautiful couple!

The year 2020 is engraved (here above on the edge) on the silver rivet

The raspberry, which can reach two meters in height, is a thorny shrub native to continental Europe and Asia Minor which is now mainly grown in North America, Switzerland, Germany, Scotland and France. Typically it grows in the woods and spreads rapidly. Rich in beneficial properties, the leaves are also used as a purifying herbal tea and the fruit provides vitamins A and C. A very useful plant for women suffering from premenstrual syndrome.

The "Raspberry cocktail" is prepared by placing ten tablespoons of dry sparkling wine, five tablespoons of orange juice and three tablespoons of raspberry syrup in the shaker, shaking well so that the ingredients are mixed together. Then pour everything into a glass, add some ice cubes and three raspberries. Finally, cut it to a slice of orange and fit it on the edge of the decorative glass.

"Blueberry Flower Bead" has a light blue background and, in contrast, small polka dots in light blue reminiscent of blueberry berries. The flower engraved on the outside of the bead, replicated five times, is represented by six lanceolate petals.
In reality the blueberry flower has the shape of a bellflower, so I find it has not been faithfully reproduced. Aside from this detail, the bead has a beautiful color that, lovers of blue, will not struggle to combine even in a marine-themed composition. In fact, the base can remember the seabed.

Wild blueberry is a typical continental European plant. In Italy it is found mainly in the Center-North, in the Alpine arc. It grows as a shrub and does not exceed fifty centimeters in height. The fruit, with an antioxidant power, reduces inflammation and the decoctions of the leaves lower the blood glucose levels.

Even the blueberry is suitable for a cocktail, the most famous is the "Cosmopolitan" where, however, cranberries are used.
The "Blueberry Dry", on the other hand, is prepared by placing ice cubes in a glass, adding the juice of half a lime, a Sanbittèr Dry and 5 cl of blueberry juice. All the ingredients are mixed and decorated with a sprig of mint, lime zest and a few blueberries.

"Honey Bee Bead" at a glance unequivocally depicts a beehive, whose cells are represented by a dark amber color in contrast with the base color which is in a warm shade of yellow. Four small bees engraved on the external transparent surface go around the bead.
The bees are graceful but, of the six beads, I think it is the incision that is less noticeable, tending to blend in with the two-tone design below.

Honey has ancient origins, it is believed that the first hives were made around the 6th millennium BC. from the Hittite populations.
The millefiori quality, as the name implies, is produced from the nectar of various flower species. Its properties are also manifold, from the treatment of flu and cough to physical, diuretic power, as well as fixing calcium and magnesium in the bones.
Color, consistency and flavor vary according to the different geographical areas and the production period, based on the flowering plant species from which the bees collect pollen.

Even honey is used in cocktails and this is a non-alcoholic variant. Pour half a liter of natural water and a spoonful of "Millefiori honey", a pinch of powdered ginger and lemon juice into a carafe. Stir gently until the honey melts and add some ice cubes, ready to be served in glasses decorated with a slice of lemon.

"Mint Mesh Bead" of the six beads is the only one to present with an incision different from the others, that is, it does not show foliage but a graphic motif of X that follow each other all around framed by a line on both sides.
The background is bicolor in light mint green and aqua green.
I don't know what the designer thought when she created the engravings, seeing them, I think of the fresh and intense flavor of mint and I visualize it as giving off many small sparks. Original from all points of view, this bead is part of my podium.

The mint used a lot since the ancient Romans as a medical plant, is native to the Mediterranean but the real cultivation begins in 1750 in England. It can reach the height of one meter and, if it were not for the intense aroma, it could be confused with the nettle plant.
Used in herbal teas to solve intestinal problems, it also has soothing and dilating vessels. Mint oil is also used, diluted, for massages against rheumatism.

Mint is used in various cocktails, such as Mojito.
Being summer, however, and wanting to combat the heat, you can prepare homemade ice lollies.
Pour 400 ml of water and 40 g of sugar into a saucepan, bring to the boil, stirring so that the sugar dissolves. Once boiling is reached, leave the pan on the stove for a few minutes to create the syrup. It is left to cool and then the juice of half a filtered lemon and 100 ml of mint syrup are added. Everything must be mixed well and left to rest in the fridge for half an hour. Finally, it is poured into popsicle molds and placed in the freezer for at least 4 hours (even better if overnight).

The "Plum Tree Bead" is a two-colored bead, in shades of pink and light plum, with the surface engraving of three twigs of clovers.
Of all the beads, this is the one that undergoes most color variations depending on the light from which it is hit.
As you know, in fact, glass beads change their color a little according to natural, artificial cold or warm light.
Just as you can find differences in size and shades from one to the other, peculiarities of the handmade.
The most delicate and pastel shades of the set.

The plum is native to Asia, in the Caucasus area. In Italy it is frequent to find it in Campania, Trentino and Emilia Romagna. It reaches a maximum height of three meters. Its fruit, known for its laxative properties, also possesses refreshing and purifying properties.

Plums also lend themselves to cocktails and here I have found a homemade version.
After washing, peeling and pitting four plums, place them in a blender together with 50 ml of syrup and the juice of one lemon. Once a smooth puree is obtained, it must be filtered in a colander. The liquid obtained from it can be kept in the refrigerator in a closed bottle, for a maximum of one day.
The puree should be put in quantities of about 30 ml in each glass (four) to which 30 ml of Aperol and as much sparkling wine as needed to reach the edge of the glass to be garnished with a mint leaf. Ice to taste or prepare the cocktail in a carafe and leave it to cool in the refrigerator for two or three hours.

The "Trollbeads Day 2020 Kit" is in Limited Edition at a cost of € 330.
A single bead can be purchased for € 55.
The gift gadget of this year is a hat with a visor in three colors: pink, green and blue. Available while stocks last.

I would like to remind you that at the Righi Jewelery store in Modena (Italy), "Premium Plus Lab Retailer", in addition to being able to view the new set of Trollbeads Day 2020, a promotion is underway on Unique glass beads, for information: https://www.facebook.com/RighiGioielli/

So not only in sets but also individually. So I created combinations for bangle, a "fresh" and light alternative that is pleasantly worn even on the hottest days.

Of the entire set, the three beads that I prefer in absolute are: "Lime Leaves Bead", "Raspberry Bush Bead" and "Mint Mesh Bead", bright colors that I find perfect for this summer.
However, I find they are all very interesting and easy to place in the various compositions that can be created.
The engravings are not new at Trollbeads, just remember "Engraved Poetic", "Engraved Romance", "Engraved Fuchsia" and "Engraved Azure".
Although they are still in the collection, they have not had a great response, yet, by observing them carefully, they reserve a pleasantness that I find difficult to explain in words.
And to think that the first time I said "they remind me of the Bohemia glasses and vases of the past", without giving them great value.
I changed my mind and this new set I count among the most beautiful made.

But now I'm curious to know what you think.
You like them?

Happy Trollbeads Day Trollfans

See you soon,

Elena
