Intervista con Nadia Sidoli, una delle vincitrici del Trollbeads "People's Uniques" - Interview with Nadia Sidoli, one of the winners of the Trollbeads "People's Uniques"

Quest'anno, per la prima volta, Trollbeads ha indetto un concorso simile al People's Bead come partecipazione ma differente nel contenuto, il "People's Uniques".

L'idea è stata quella di invitare i collezionisti a partecipare presentando fotografie dei loro Unici preferiti, con lo scopo di produrre un set.
Chi non ha partecipato ha potuto comunque farlo votando.
I sei beads più votati e risultati dunque vincenti, sono i seguenti:

I beads sono molto diversi uno dall'altro pur avendo in comune qualcosa che rimanda alla natura.
Designer di ogni singolo bead è il "Trollbeads Design Group".

Ma cosa significa, in gergo "trollese" Unico?
Unico, che tradotto dall'inglese OOAK, ossia One Of A Kind, significa letteralmente "unico nel suo genere", per Trollbeads vale a dire un bead in vetro di cui non esistono riproduzioni seriali come per quelli in collezione ed a catalogo. In realtà questi Unici vengono comunque prodotti in più quantitativi, così da poter essere distribuiti (più o meno equamente) in tutti i paesi.

Ho avuto la fortuna di potere intervistare Nadia Sidoli, vincitrice, insieme agli altri cinque partecipanti, di questa prima edizione del "People's Uniques".

Nadia, nata e cresciuta a Londra da genitori emiliani che si trasferirono in Inghilterra per motivi di lavoro, ha vissuto in diverse parti del mondo; attualmente vive a La Spezia dove lavora come responsabile della Qualità/Formazione/Reclutamento di un servizio clienti di una importante azienda a livello nazionale.
Persona riservata, non le piace condividere il proprio privato con chiunque. Ama viaggiare, cosa che ha fatto anche per lavoro per parecchi anni. Il collezionismo la appassiona, oltre a Trollbeads ha collezionato scarpe, borse, profumi mignon, orologi.
La passione per Trollbeads ed i componibili in generale, le ha permesso di conoscere ed apprezzare parecchie persone con la sua stessa passione, alcune sono diventate amicizie speciali.
Nel mondo dei collezionisti Trollbeads, Nadia è conosciuta come Amministratrice di un gruppo Facebook insieme ad un altro collezionista. Io stessa ho avuto modo di conoscerla scambiando opinioni sui beads oltre qualche battuta sul fatto che entrambe siamo emiliane, anche se lei decisamente più cosmopolita di me.
Raffinata e di buon gusto, apprezzo di Nadia la riservatezza, che in parte condivido, difatti qui non troverete una sua fotografia, avrete però modo di ammirare alcuni dei suoi beads.


Nadia, prima di tutto mi complimento per la tua vittoria al "People's Uniques"!

Da quanti anni collezioni Trollbeads e come hai conosciuto il marchio?

Ho conosciuto Trollbeads nell’ottobre del 2011 a Londra. Una mia amica, per il mio compleanno, mi regalò uno start che era uscito in esclusiva nel Regno Unito, in occasione del trentacinquesimo anniversario Trollbeads, il "Peacock Bracelet" in Edizione Limitata, composto da una chiusura Messico, una perla Peacock ed il bracciale. Uno start anomalo perché i pezzi che lo componevano erano già a catalogo. In tutta sincerità non mi appassionai subito, tenni il bracciale così come era per parecchi anni, continuando a seguire distrattamente le nuove collezioni, senza aggiungere beads al bracciale ed ammirando fotografie di bracciali con bellissimi beads "old" di collezioniste.   

 

Quale è stato il primo bracciale che hai composto?

Nel 2017 è venuta a mancare mia mamma e ho subito pensato di dedicarle un bracciale. Acquistai il bracciale start "Wishful Sky" perché lei era diventata la mia stella, l’ho sempre lasciato così senza aggiungere vetri o argenti.
Le dedicai anche un altro bracciale, lei aveva la passione per le rose che coltivava in un bellissimo giardino e quindi composi un bracciale con il bead in vetro "Rosa Regina" e beads in argento a tema fiori, compresa Rosa di Giugno che era il suo mese di nascita e alcuni Prisma (piccoli beads in vetro sfaccettati) rossi/rosa dedicati alla festa della mamma.
Da allora mi sono appassionata sempre di più, non solo collezionando ma anche cercando di approfondire la storia del brand e cercando informazioni sulle vecchie collezioni, grazie anche alla fortuna d'avere amicizie che collezionavano da anni.

Tra quelli che possiedi, c’è un bead “del cuore”, uno da cui non ti separeresti mai?

Il mio bead del cuore è "Aurora Sfaccettata" (dal bracciale Start "Nuova Storia"), le colleziono. È un vetro che mi piace per i colori e le sfumature, mi ricorda un bellissimo viaggio in Norvegia che è stato una tappa importante della mia vita.

Quale è stata la motivazione che ti ha spinta a partecipare a questa prima edizione del "People's Uniques"?

Ho partecipato perché sono un’appassionata di Unici ed anche per vedere riprodotti Unici che mi piacciono particolarmente. Inoltre il concorso mi è sembrata un’idea molto originale.

 

Perché hai scelto proprio questo Unico, "Tracce Viola"? Cosa ti attrae di lui?

Non ho scelto solo questo, ho presentato le foto di 55 unici tutti particolari e bellissimi, avrei voluto vederli vincere tutti, questo ha avuto la fortuna di piacere più di altri. A mio gusto ne ho presentati sicuramente di più belli e rari.

Quando hai saputo di avere vinto? Come ti è stato comunicato?

Ho appreso che uno dei miei Unici era tra i sei vincitori tramite il sito Trollbeads nella sezione apposita e dopo poche ore ho ricevuto una e-mail dalla sede centrale Danese.

Sei soddisfatta di come è stato riprodotto il bead?

Sono abbastanza soddisfatta, la riproduzione non è identica, il mio ha sfumature particolari che non sono state riprodotte fedelmente. Ovviamente non hanno visto il mio bead dal vero ma solo in foto, penso che sia questo il motivo principale della riproduzione non fedelissima.

 

Degli altri cinque beads facenti parte del set, quale ti ha colpita maggiormente?  
Gli italiani l’hanno fatta da padrone vero?! Quattro su sei direi sia una ottima quota non trovi? Da partecipante, ti sarebbe piaciuto vedere nel set qualche altro Unico differente dai prescelti?

In generale sono tutti molto belli, contro ogni aspettativa "Spirale Magica" è quello che mi ha colpita di più per il tipo di lavorazione, come design è sicuramente il meno scontato ed anche il meno popolare fino ad ora, l’originale è un vetro molto raro e costoso ed anche difficilissimo da trovare.

Sono stata molto felice di vedere quatto italiani tra i sei finalisti, questa è la dimostrazione del buongusto e della passione che ci caratterizza.

Tra i vincitori mi sarebbe piaciuto vedere qualche unico "old", tipo il "Longevity" o il "Conch" che erano in gara ed anche molto belli nel loro genere.

 

Il premio che hai ricevuto e che hanno ricevuto anche gli altri vincitori, in cosa consiste?

Il premio consiste in due set formati ciascuno dai sei beads Unici vincitori. I set in regalo sono due perché uno è per il vincitore e l’altro da donare ad un’amica/o. Il mio secondo set lo donerò ad un amico conosciuto sui gruppi.

Se mai ci sarà, hai un suggerimento da rivolgere a Trollbeads per la prossima edizione?

Spero tanto in una seconda edizione, ovviamente parteciperò di nuovo.
Ho tre suggerimenti: il primo è di fare un controllo degli Unici che vengono presentati dai partecipanti, in quanto nella prima fase di votazioni ci siamo trovati a votare anche per beads in vetro che non erano Unici; il secondo è di rendere le votazioni della prima fase più snelle e veloci e il terzo è di chiedere ai vincitori foto e video degli Unici per poterli riprodurre più fedelmente.

 

Grazie Nadia per avere accettato ad essere intervistata, nonostante la tua riservatezza. Sarò curiosa il prossimo anno, nella eventualità di una seconda edizione, di vedere con quali Unici parteciperai ;-)

"Tracce Viola", il bead appunto proposto da Nadia e che è risultato tra i vincitori, è sicuramente caratterizzato dall' "effetto aurora", un insieme di sfumature viola con bagliori ambrati sormontato da un motivo ornamentale a volute o ghirigori che dir si voglia, in verde screziato a contrasto, quasi a voler simulare i tipici riccioli della edera. Questo motivo, anche chiamato "Ornament", lo si può trovare in altri beads, ad esempio nella precedente collezione primavera e nel bracciale start "Acchiappafarfalle".
Personalmente non amo i riflessi aurora nei beads in generale ma riconosco il fascino che emanano.

Come potete vedere dalla fotografia, gli esemplari sono uno diverso dall'altro, si può trovare quello con prevalenza di viola e quello con prevalenza di riflessi ambrati, riflessi che comunque cambiano a seconda della luce da cui vengono colpiti, che sia artificiale calda o fredda o naturale, una caratteristica di ogni bead in vetro.

 

 

 

 

"Fior di Loto", il bead vincitore di Arianna (dall'Italia), presenta un colore di fondo blu scuro con effetto glitter sormontato da petali la cui forma evoca appunto il Fiore di Loto, mentre il colore risulta avere delle iridescenze che vanno dal lilla all'azzurro.

Ogni esemplare presenta differenze che lo rendono unico nel vero senso della parola, si possono scegliere quindi sfumature dei petali più chiare o più scure. Un bead che si presta in abbinamenti a contrasto o tono su tono.

 

 

"Cielo Notturno", bead vincitore di Antonio (dall'Italia), in pratica altro non è che il famigerato "Galaxy" che sono certa molti di voi possiedono (me compresa) nella versione "old" e "small&beautiful", ossia un bead di dimensioni ridotte rispetto lo standard, con inclusioni di piccole sfere d'argento che galleggiano tra le striature cobalto e blu notte, volte a ricreare la magia di un cielo stellato.
In questa nuova produzione, il bead ha assunto dimensioni un poco più grandi rispetto la precedente, rendendo più visibili le sfere.

 

In foto di gruppo, è facile notare come risultino differenti uno dall'altro, alcuni molto chiari, altri più scuri da sembrare quasi neri. Non mi è dato di sapere se Antonio sia soddisfatto di come sono stati realizzati, da parte mia posso dire che, come potete vederli a confronto, non mi dispiacciono affatto, anzi! Resto comunque affezionata al mio piccolo "Galaxy" :-)

"Onde del Mare", di Christina (dagli U.S.A.), è probabilmente l'Unico su cui in tanti avevano grandi aspettative (alzo la mano!). L'uscita delle fotografie istituzionali di qualche tempo fa aveva allarmato un po' tutti perché il bead sembrava privo dei luccichii che contraddistinguevano l'originale, vale a dire una rappresentazione delle onde del mare che si infrangono sulla spiaggia.
Visto finalmente dal vivo, debbo dire che non mi ha delusa, le onde hanno sfumature acquamarina e la sabbia color senape, il tutto con l'amato effetto glitter che indubbiamente dona luminosità.

L'estate sta volgendo al termine e magari questo bead può sembrare ormai fuori stagione, eppure sono certa che può trovare posto anche in una combinazione ispirata alla natura senza necessariamente evocare il mare.
Nella mia personale classifica, questo bead è al primo posto, ex aequo con "Spirale Magica".

 

 

"Spirale Magica", bead vincitore di Sarah (dagli U.S.A.), ha un cuore multicolore a righe gialle, arancioni e blu che si sovrappongono, sormontate da una serpentina in avventurina color rame (glitter) e da un motivo sottile curvilineo bianco, tipico delle curve che si ottengono con lo spirografo (o cerchio magico) da cui in origine prende nome. Facile trovare anche qualche piccola bollicina al suo interno.
Il motivo curvilineo mi ricorda il bead, ormai ritirato, "Sfera d'Autunno", uno tra i pendenti che prediligo.

Credo che "Spirale Magica" sia, tra i sei beads vincenti, quello riprodotto più fedelmente ma soprattutto, come afferma anche Nadia, il più originale, il meno scontato e, probabilmente, diverrà presto, proprio per queste sue caratteristiche, tra i più ricercati.
Se vi piace, acquistatelo ora, perché mi è giunta voce che i quantitativi di questo bead sono inferiori rispetto gli altri, quindi si corre il rischio di rimanere senza e per un collezionista, rimanere senza, non è mai buona cosa.

 

 

 

"Fiore Sincero", di Serena (dall'Italia), è il fiore a sei petali lanceolati che già da qualche tempo Trollbeads realizza in differenti varianti colori, senza contare che alcuni si trovano in collezioni precedenti ed a catalogo, come, ad esempio, "Fiore dell'Equilibrio".

Il fiore bianco all'interno del bead è ripetuto quattro volte e posa su di un fondo color prugna con bagliori che virano dal rosso al fucsia. Le micro bollicine che sembrano rivestire l'intero bead, conferiscono brillantezza. Un bead decisamente "frizzante" che trovo si presti come jolly in tante combinazioni colore.

Come dicevo all'inizio, questo set può sembrare eterogeneo, in realtà secondo me qualcosa li rende affini, così ho provato a comporre un bracciale utilizzando tutti e sei i vincitori, insieme ad altri beads, cercando di mantenere un filo logico con i colori.

Il risultato non mi dispiace affatto, voi cosa ne pensate?

Interview with Nadia Sidoli, one of the winners of the Trollbeads "People's Uniques"

This year, for the first time, Trollbeads has launched a competition similar to the People's Bead in terms of participation but different in content: the "People's Uniques".

The beads are very different from each other despite having something in common that refers to nature.
Designer is the "Trollbeads Design Group".


But what does Unico mean in "Trollese" jargon?
Unique, which translated from English OOAK, literally One Of A Kind, for Trollbeads, that is a glass bead of which there are no serial reproductions as for those in the collection and in the catalog. In reality, these Unique are however produced in more quantities, so that they can be distributed (more or less equally) in all countries.

I was lucky enough to be able to interview Nadia Sidoli, winner, together with the other five participants, of this first edition of the "People's Uniques".

Nadia, born and raised in London by Emilian parents who moved to England for work reasons, has lived in different parts of the world; he currently lives in La Spezia (Italy) where he works as a Quality / Training / Recruiting manager of a customer service of an important company at national level.
Private person, she doesn't like sharing her private with anyone. He loves to travel, which he has also done for work for several years. She is passionate about collecting, in addition to Trollbeads she has collected shoes, bags, miniature perfumes, watches.
The passion for Trollbeads and composables in general, has allowed her to know and appreciate many people with the same passion as her, some have become special friends.
In the world of Trollbeads collectors, Nadia is known as the Administrator of a Facebook group along with another collector. I myself got to know her by exchanging opinions on the beads as well as a few words about the fact that we are both Emilian, even if she is definitely more cosmopolitan than me.
Refined and in good taste, I appreciate Nadia's confidentiality, which I partly share, in fact here you will not find a photograph of her, but you will be able to admire some of her beads.



Nadia, first of all I congratulate you on your victory at the "People's Uniques"!

How many years have you been collecting Trollbeads and how did you get to know the brand?
I met Trollbeads in October 2011 in London. A friend of mine, for my birthday, gave me a start that was released exclusively in the United Kingdom, on the occasion of the thirty-fifth anniversary of Trollbeads, the "Peacock Bracelet" in Limited Edition, consisting of a Mexico lock, a Peacock pearl and the bracelet. An anomalous start because the pieces that made it up were already in the catalog. In all honesty, I didn't immediately get hooked, I kept the bracelet as it was for several years, continuing to absent-mindedly follow the new collections, without adding beads to the bracelet and admiring photographs of bracelets with beautiful "old" collector beads.



What was the first bracelet you made?
In 2017 my mother passed away and I immediately thought of dedicating a bracelet to her. I bought the "Wishful Sky" start bracelet because she had become my star, I've always left it like that without adding glass or silver.
I also dedicated another bracelet to her, she had a passion for roses that she cultivated in a beautiful garden and therefore I composed a bracelet with the glass bead "Mother's Rose" and silver flower-themed beads, including "Rose of June" which was her month of birth and some Prism (small faceted glass beads) red / pink dedicated to Mother's Day.
Since then I have become more and more passionate, not only collecting but also trying to deepen the history of the brand and looking for information on old collections, thanks also to the good fortune of having friends who have been collecting for years.

Among those you own, is there a bead "from the heart", one you would never be separated from?
My bead of the heart is "Faceted Aurora" (from the "Stories of You Starter Bracelet"), I collect them. It is a glass that I like for its colors and shades, it reminds me of a beautiful trip to Norway which was an important stage in my life.


What was the motivation that prompted you to participate in this first edition of "People's Uniques"?
I participated because I am a fan of Uniques and also to see Uniques reproductions that I particularly like. In addition, the competition seemed to me a very original idea.

 

Why did you choose this Unique, "Traces on Purple"? What attracts you to him?
I didn't just choose this one, I presented the photos of 55 unique and all special and beautiful ones, I would have liked to see them all win, this one was lucky enough to be liked more than others. To my taste I have certainly presented more beautiful and rare ones.

When did you know you won? How was it communicated to you?
I learned that one of my Unique was among the six winners via the Trollbeads website in the appropriate section and after a few hours I received an email from the Danish headquarters.



Are you satisfied with how the bead was reproduced?
I am quite satisfied, the reproduction is not identical, mine has particular shades that have not been faithfully reproduced. Obviously they didn't see my bead in real life but only in photos, I think this is the main reason for the not very faithful reproduction.

 

Of the other five beads in the set, which one hit you more?
The Italians have made it like masters right ?! I would say four out of six is ​​an excellent share, don't you think? As a participant, would you have liked to see some other Unique in the set different from the chosen ones?
In general they are all very beautiful, against all expectations "Multicolor Spirograph" is what struck me most for the type of processing, as a design it is certainly the least obvious and also the least popular until now, the original is a glass very rare and expensive and also very difficult to find.

I was very happy to see four Italians among the six finalists, this is the demonstration of the good taste and passion that characterizes us.

Among the winners I would have liked to have seen some unique "old", like the "Longevity" or the "Conch" that were in the race and also very beautiful in their genre.


What is the prize you have received and what the other winners have also received?
The prize consists of two sets each consisting of six Unique Winning beads. There are two sets as a gift because one is for the winner and the other is to be given to a friend. I will donate my second set to a friend I met on the bands.

 

If there ever will be, do you have a suggestion for Trollbeads for the next edition?
I really hope for a second edition, of course I will participate again.
I have three suggestions: the first is to check the Unique that are presented by the participants, as in the first phase of voting we also found ourselves voting for glass beads that were not Unique; the second is to make the voting of the first phase more streamlined and faster and the third is to ask the winners for photos and videos of the Unique in order to reproduce them more faithfully.

"Traces on Purple", the bead proposed by Nadia and which was among the winners, is certainly characterized by the "aurora effect", a set of purple shades with amber glints topped by an ornamental motif with swirls or squiggles as you like. , in contrasting mottled green, as if to simulate the typical curls of ivy. This motif, also called "Ornament", can be found in other beads, for example in the previous spring collection and in the "Flutter By Bracelet" start bracelet.
Personally I don't like the aurora reflections in the beads in general but I recognize the charm they emanate.
As you can see from the photograph, the specimens are different from each other, you can find the one with a prevalence of purple and the one with a prevalence of amber reflections, reflections that in any case change depending on the light from which they are hit, whether it is artificial hot or cold or natural, a feature of every glass bead.

"Everchanging Lotus", the winning bead by Arianna (from Italy), has a dark blue background color with a glitter effect surmounted by petals whose shape evokes the Lotus Flower, while the color appears to have iridescences ranging from lilac to blue. Each specimen has differences that make it unique in the true sense of the word, so you can choose lighter or darker shades of the petals.
A bead that lends itself to contrasting or tone-on-tone combinations.

"Night Sky Glitter", bead winner of Antonio (from Italy), in practice it is none other than the infamous "Galaxy" that I am sure many of you have (including me) in the "old" and "small & beautiful" version, that is a bead smaller than the standard, with inclusions of small silver spheres floating between cobalt and midnight blue streaks, aimed at recreating the magic of a starry sky.
In this new production, the bead has taken on a slightly larger size than the previous one, making the spheres more visible. In group photos, it is easy to see how they are different from each other, some very light, others darker to appear almost black. I don't know if Antonio is satisfied with how they were made, for my part I can say that, as you can see them in comparison, I don't mind at all, quite the contrary! However, I remain fond of my little "Galaxy" :-)

 

"Waves of Sea", by Christina (from the U.S.A.), is probably the only one on which many had high expectations (raise my hand!). The release of the institutional photographs some time ago had alarmed everyone a little because the bead seemed devoid of the sparkles that characterized the original, that is to say a representation of the sea waves crashing on the beach.
Finally seen live, I must say it did not disappoint me, the waves have aquamarine shades and the mustard-colored sand, all with the beloved glitter effect that undoubtedly gives brightness.
Summer is coming to an end and maybe this bead may seem out of season now, yet I'm sure it can also find its place in a combination inspired by nature without necessarily evoking the sea.
In my personal ranking, this bead is in first place, ex aequo with "Multicolor Spirograph".

 

"Multicolor Spirograph", Sarah's winning bead (from the USA), has a multicolored heart with overlapping yellow, orange and blue stripes, topped by a copper-colored aventurine (glitter) coil and a subtle white curvilinear pattern, typical of curves that are obtained with the spirograph (or magic circle) from which it originally takes its name. It is easy to find even some small bubbles inside.
The curvilinear motif reminds me of the now retired bead, "Autumn", one of my favorite pendants.
I believe that "Multicolor Spirograph" is, among the six winning beads, the one reproduced most faithfully but above all, as Nadia also states, the most original, the least obvious and, probably, it will soon become, precisely because of these characteristics, among the most sought after. If you like it, buy it now, because I have heard that the quantities of this bead are lower than the others, so you run the risk of being left without and for a collector, being without is never a good thing.

"Flowers of Purity", by Serena (from Italy), is the flower with six lanceolate petals that Trollbeads has been producing for some time in different colors, not to mention that some are found in previous collections and in the catalog, such as, for example, "Flower of Poise".
The white flower inside the bead is repeated four times and rests on a plum-colored background with flashes that change from red to fuchsia. The micro bubbles that seem to cover the entire bead, give it shine. A decidedly "sparkling" bead that I find lends itself as a wild card in many color combinations.

 

 

As I said at the beginning, this set may seem heterogeneous, actually in my opinion something makes them similar, so I tried to compose a bracelet using all six winners, along with other beads, trying to keep a logical thread with the colors.

I don't mind the result at all, what do you think?
