Come consuetudine, anche quest'anno Trollbeads dedica un bead alla ricorrenza di San Valentino.


Il nuovo bead si chiama "Amore" e viene ufficialmente presentato al pubblico il 29 gennaio.



 

Scopriamolo insieme!



 

"Amore" della designer Lise Aagaard, si presenta con il fondo in avventurina ramata, sovrapposta copertura in fucsia trasparente e il vetro di copertura, sfaccettato, trasparente.


La somma dei due colori dona vita ad un rosso porpora, dall'aspetto glitter, enfatizzato dalla sfaccettatura, con il risultato di un bead quasi infuocato, proprio come l'amore che arde nel cuore degli innamorati.


La caratteristica dei beads in vetro, è che possono presentare delle differenze in dimensioni e colore.

Questi beads in particolare hanno delle varietà legate al colore che, osservato alla luce del giorno, risulta essere un po' più scuro (maggior copertura di fucsia) o un poco più chiaro, lasciando trasparire, in alcuni punti, il colore ramato dell'avventurina.


Tali diversità sono da considerarsi un pregio e non un difetto, poiché vengono realizzati a mano.



 

Spesso i beads in vetro cambiano colore a seconda della luce da cui vengono irradiati, che sia calda o fredda, artificiale o naturale. Potrete notarlo dalle varie fotografie che ho scattato.


Anche la superficie su cui vengono posati conferisce mutamenti ai beads, così come i tessuti.



 

Queste due fotografie le ho scattate all'esterno in una giornata di sole con qualche nube.


La prima l'ho scattata in pieno sole, la seconda ho atteso che il sole venisse coperto da una nube.


Il risultato è quello di evidenziare come il colore del vetro possa mutare e quanto camaleontico sia questo bead "Amore".


Camaleontico proprio come l'amore, che muta a seconda degli stati d'animo e del tempo che passa.

 






Spesso ci si ritrova a pensare che San Valentino sia una ricorrenza puramente consumistica, volta appunto al mero gesto del regalo, talvolta acquistato più per dovere che per vero piacere, perché si pensa, a tal proposito, che se si vuol bene a una persona, lo si dimostra tutto l'anno, non occorre certo San Valentino per comprovarlo.


Tutto vero ma la verità non sempre è assoluta, spesso è relativa. Quindi perché non approfittare di questa data per onorare le persone che amiamo, confermando ancora una volta loro che, il nostro amore, nonostante tutte le difficoltà, è ancora vivo?!


Perché alla fine, siamo sinceri, ricevere attenzioni fa piacere a tutti, così come ricevere un dono, un fiore o un semplice biglietto ma scritto con il cuore in mano.


Sarò una inguaribile romantica eppure per me San Valentino è importante, un appuntamento, una occasione per fare i conti, da un anno all'altro, con i sentimenti e vedere come e se sono mutati e perché; se poi scrivere o proferire un "ti amo", in un momento in cui si è in confusione può sembrare troppo, o troppo poco, ci sono altri mille modi per esprimere il proprio sentire.


Ogni parola che esprima un sentimento ha un suo specifico valore e chi la riceve dovrebbe farne tesoro, così come ci sono storie (d'amore) che andrebbero raccontate per comprendere il mistero e la bellezza di questa condizione: l'essere innamorati.



 

Ma da dove deriva questa "Festa degli Innamorati"?


Le leggende nate intorno a San Valentino sono molteplici. Quella che vi narro è una delle tante, quella che più mi ha colpita.


San Valentino fu vescovo e patrono della città di Terni, nonché martire, nato a Interamna Nahars (l'attuale Terni) nel 176 d.C. .


Secondo alcuni antichi documenti, pare fosse conosciuto come taumaturgo, capace di compiere miracoli. Fu per questo che venne chiamato a Roma dal filosofo Cratone, per guarire il figlio malato.


San Valentino ne promise la guarigione a patto che tutta la famiglia si convertisse al cristianesimo.


La famiglia si convertì e il miracolo avvenne ed a quel punto la sua fama crebbe sino a renderlo "pericoloso" ma non soltanto per questo. Fu difatti il primo religioso a celebrare un matrimonio tra un pagano e una cristiana, cosa inammissibile all'epoca.


Sempre leggenda narra che un giorno, sentendo due fidanzati litigare nei pressi del suo giardino, andò loro incontro porgendo una rosa, invitandoli a riconciliarsi stringendo entrambi il gambo della stessa e pregando affinché il Signore concedesse vita eterna al loro amore. A distanza di tempo i due fidanzati tornarono dal Santo per chiedere la benedizione del loro matrimonio, a suggello di un amore rinato.


Nel 496 d.C. Papa Gelasio bandì la festa pagana di febbraio Lupercalia (dove si compivano riti trasgressivi e lussuriosi atti alla fertilità), affinché venisse celebrato il culto di San Valentino, proclamandone così la Festa degli Innamorati il 14 febbraio, giorno in cui il Santo venne ucciso, a Roma nel 273 d.C., per volere dell'imperatore Aureliano.


Le sue spoglie furono sepolte sulla collina di Terni, ove oggi si trovano custodite nella omonima Basilica costruita nel medesimo punto.



 

Come una fiaba insomma questa leggenda di San Valentino, che non ha avuto paura di sfidare i dettami dell'epoca, unendo in matrimonio due persone di differente ceto sociale e credo, in nome dell'amore.


Sfidiamoci allora e non lesiniamo i nostri sentimenti e abbandoniamo questa idea del consumismo, proviamo invece a pensare che fare un regalo è sempre e comunque un gesto d'amore.

"I Love You" by designer Lise Aagaard, has a copper aventurine bottom, a transparent fuchsia cover overlaid and a faceted, transparent cover glass.

The sum of the two colors gives life to a purple red, with a glitter aspect, emphasized by the facet, with the result of an almost fiery bead, just like the love that burns in the hearts of lovers.

The characteristic of glass beads is that they can have differences in size and color.

These beads in particular have truths related to the color which, observed in daylight, turns out to be a little darker (greater coverage of fuchsia) or a little lighter, letting the coppery color of aventurine shine through in some places. .

These differences are to be considered a value and not a defect, as they are handmade.

Glass beads often change color depending on the light from which they are irradiated, be it hot or cold, artificial or natural. You will notice this from the various photographs I took.

The surface on which they are placed also gives changes to the beads, as do the fabrics.

These two photographs I took outside on a sunny day with some clouds.

The first I took in full sun, the second I waited for the sun to be covered by a cloud.

The result is to highlight how the color of the glass can change and how chameleonic this bead "I Love You" is.

Chameleon just like love, which changes according to moods and the passing of time.

We often find ourselves thinking that Valentine's Day is a purely consumerist recurrence, aimed precisely at the mere gesture of the gift, sometimes purchased more for duty than for real pleasure, because we think, in this regard, that if you love a person, you can prove it all year round, you certainly don't need Valentine's Day to prove it.

All true but the truth is not always absolute, it is often relative. So why not take advantage of this date to honor the people we love, confirming once again to them that, despite all the difficulties, our love is still alive ?!

Because in the end, let's be honest, everyone is happy to receive attention, as well as receiving a gift, a flower or a simple card written with heart in hand.

I will be an incurable romantic and yet for me Valentine's Day is important, an appointment, an opportunity to deal, from one year to the next, with feelings and see how and if they have changed and why; if then writing or saying "I love you" at a time when you are in confusion may seem too much, or too little, there are a thousand other ways to express your feelings.

Each word that expresses a feeling has its own specific value and those who receive it should treasure it, just as there are (love) stories that should be told to understand the mystery and beauty of this condition: being in love.

But where does this "Festival of Lovers" come from?

The legends born around Valentine's Day are many. What I am telling you is one of many, the one that struck me most.

San Valentino was bishop and patron of the city of Terni (Italy), as well as a martyr, born in Interamna Nahars (now Terni) in 176 A.D. .

According to some ancient documents, it seems he was known as a thaumaturge, capable of performing miracles. It was for this reason that he was called to Rome by the philosopher Cratone, to heal his sick son.

Valentine promised his recovery as long as the whole family converted to Christianity.

The family converted and the miracle happened and at that point his fame grew to make him "dangerous" but not only for this. He was in fact the first religious to celebrate a marriage between a pagan and a Christian, which was inadmissible at the time.

Legend also has it that one day, hearing two engaged couples arguing near her garden, she went to meet them handing out a rose, inviting them to be reconciled by both clutching the stem of the same and praying that the Lord would grant eternal life to their love. After some time, the two engaged couples returned to the Saint to ask him for the blessing of their marriage, as a seal of a reborn love.

In 496 A.D. Pope Gelasius banned the pagan feast of February Lupercalia (where transgressive rites and lustful acts of fertility were performed) so that the cult of St. Valentine was celebrated, thus proclaiming the Feast of Lovers on February 14, the day in which the saint was killed, in Rome in 273 A.D., at the behest of the emperor Aureliano.

His remains were buried on the hill of Terni, where today they are kept in the homonymous Basilica built in the same spot.

In short, like a fairy tale, this legend of Valentine's Day, who was not afraid to challenge the dictates of the time, uniting two people of different social classes and creeds in marriage, in the name of love.

Let's challenge ourselves then and don't skimp on our feelings and abandon this idea of ​​consumerism, let's instead try to think that giving a gift is always a gesture of love.
