Come avrete senz'altro avuto modo di capire con le precedenti interviste legate al mondo degli artigiani, mi interessa molto andare alla ricerca di chi, in modo genuino, crea dal nulla, o quasi.
Nel mondo del gioiello componibile, in questi ultimi anni si sono avvicendati vari marchi e altrettanti artigiani che si stanno via via confermando sempre più, poiché il prodotto che propongono è di alta qualità, personalizzabile e con un'anima ben precisa, quella di chi li realizza.

Proseguo quindi con le interviste, sperando sia per voi interessante scoprire chi si cela dietro queste miniature che chiamiamo "beads".
Questa è la volta di "Ilko Beads".







Lad'ka Ilková vive in un piccolo villaggio della Repubblica Ceca. Sposata, ha due amati figli. Insieme alla sua famiglia, oltre la attività, si prende cura di un piccolo vigneto e di un piccolo gregge di capre. Ha un diploma di geometra, però non ha mai svolto questa professione poiché ha iniziato a creare gioielli e il suo hobby si è trasformato in lavoro.


Lad'ka, da cosa nasce il nome "Ilko Beads"? È una abbreviazione del tuo cognome?

Ilko è il cognome, siamo la famiglia Ilko. La nostra è una piccola azienda a conduzione familiare e dunque tutta la famiglia è coinvolta, compresi i suoceri che aiutano con l'imballaggio, la fatturazione, le traduzioni in russo ecc. .


Prima di dare vita a questa realtà artigianale di gioielli componibili, di cosa ti occupavi?

Possediamo un'azienda di componenti orafi. Mio marito Martin ne ha creato una parte importante. I beads Ilko sono un ramo della nostra azienda di famiglia.


In quale anno è nato "Ilko Beads"?  

Non potrò dimenticarlo mai! Ho creato la prima sfera d'argento martellata il 22 ottobre 2017. Era un ordine personalizzato. E mi sono innamorata.





Crei tu personalmente i beads?

La maggior parte dei gioielli, soprattutto beads, li creo dall'inizio alla fine. Per quanto riguarda le chiusure invece, ad esempio, utilizzo alcuni componenti della nostra azienda.


Quando è nata la tua passione per i gioielli componibili? Quale è stato il tuo "primo amore" tra i marchi più conosciuti?

La mia passione è iniziata nel 2017. Il primo amore è stato Trollbeads ma preferisco i beads artigianali per avere qualcosa di originale al polso, come "Merce Jewelry", "Arhaik", "Beads in Opera".





Da cosa vieni ispirata? Quali sono le creazioni che maggiormente rispecchiano il tuo estro?

Per quanto riguarda i beads martellati, ho lasciato che il mio intuito guidasse le mie mani. Ogni singolo bead è un pezzo unico e originale, perché ogni nuovo giorno porta uno stato d'animo differente, un potere diverso nelle mie mani. I beads più belli che creo, sono quelli che realizzo seduta sotto il nostro grande albero di noce, vicino alla nostra casa. Amo lavorare in questo luogo. Sono felice di martellare i beads anche su precisa richiesta del cliente, altrimenti di solito nuove idee arrivano durante la notte e la mattina presto, quindi debbo avere un foglio e una matita vicini al mio letto.






Quasi tutti i tuoi beads hanno forma tondeggiante, cosa rappresenta questo per te?

Il pianeta Terra gira, la storia si ripete, le nostre vite ruotano…e così ho scelto questa forma per i miei beads.
 





Puoi raccontare brevemente il processo creativo, i passi fondamentali? Disegno, cera, fusione?  

Il mio lavoro è un po' diverso. I miei beads prendono forma attraverso un martello. Alcuni beads sono decorati al laser o fresati, attraverso grafiche che debbo prima disegnare accuratamente.


Oltre l'argento, quali altri metalli lavori?

Amo anche il rame. Penso che il rame ossidato, abbinato all'argento, sia una vera bellezza.


Hai collaborato con altri artigiani?

Ci sono molti artigiani di talento in Repubblica Ceca. Sono felice e orgogliosa di collaborare con Michel Rosselli, noto come "Mr. Bead". I suoi beads di legno sono fantastici, li adoro e li indosso molto spesso. Sono lieta di collaborare anche con una grande lavoratrice a lume ceca Hana Beranova, nota come marca di beads "Arago".



Puoi svelarci una anticipazione di qualcosa di nuovo che stai creando?

È difficile creare ora a causa del Covid. Come madre di due bambini vivaci, debbo prendermi cura di loro e così adesso ho poco tempo.
Ho in mente delle innovazioni ma non voglio rivelarle per scaramanzia.






Una curiosità su di te?

A volte penso che tutta la mia vita sia una grande curiosità. Ma sì, una curiosità su di me è che mi interessano i Tarocchi e la numerologia.








Lad'ka trovo sia una donna molto concreta, radicata nel suo paese, legata alla famiglia, ai figli, agli animali ed alla natura che la circondano e queste caratteristiche si possono ritrovare nei suoi beads e nel modo che ha di crearli. Il martello nelle sue mani, sintetizza la potenza e la delicatezza di cui lei è capace, poiché forgiare un bead attraverso di esso è un processo estremamente delicato.




C'è anche una nota di mistero, di riservatezza, di pudore, tipico delle persone sensibili che preferiscono parlare attraverso il proprio operato, l'interesse che nutre per tarocchi e numerologia, evidenzia questo aspetto.




Le forme utilizzate, prevalentemente tonde, che ha deciso di adottare, sono molto evocative, piacevoli da osservare e da indossare.
Alcuni beads satinati, a colpo d'occhio, sembrano perle di mare, donando luce a qualsiasi composizione.







Le incisioni dei fiocchi di neve sono molto fini e ottimamente riprodotte.



















La chiusura rotonda mi ricorda una luna piena intersecata da una mezza luna finemente intarsiata come fosse un merletto.
Può essere utilizzata anche su di un bracciale Trollbeads o di altro brand.














Il bangle in rame ossidato e martellato mi piace davvero molto, mi ricorda la corteccia degli alberi, piacevolissimo al tatto, indossato crea un bellissimo contrasto sia con i beads creati da Lad'ka che con beads in vetro di altri marchi.






Per fare un paragone ed aiutarvi nel caso desideraste acquistarlo, il bangle è più sottile rispetto il bangle Trollbeads, quindi gli Stop da utilizzare debbono essere per forza i suoi originali.










Il bracciale a maglia morbida ha una lavorazione a "corda" molto bella, che differisce dalla classica "coda di volpe" di Trollbeads. Lo spessore è maggiore quindi i beads in vetro di Trollbeads non entrano nel bracciale, solamente gli Unici Universali (con foro passante più largo) e tutti gli altri beads di differenti brands. Alcuni beads in argento di Trollbeads entrano, non tutti.


Ci sono anche un paio di proposte pensate per San Valentino o per qualsiasi altra occasione che abbia a che fare con l'amore, un bead tondo in argento sormontato da un cuore e un bead in argento rappresentato da due cuori a filo che si intersecano.
Lad'ka è sempre attenta ai dettagli ed anche in questa occasione non manca di regalarci il suo tocco.

Interview with Lad'ka Ilková of "ILKO Beads"


As you will certainly have had the opportunity to understand with the previous interviews linked to the world of artisans, I am very interested in looking for those who, in a genuine way, create from nothing, or almost.
In the world of modular jewelery, in recent years various brands and as many artisans have alternated and are gradually confirming themselves more and more, since the product they offer is of high quality, customizable and with a very specific soul, that of those who realizes.

So I continue with the interviews, hoping it will be interesting for you to find out who is behind these miniatures that we call "beads".
This is the turn of "Ilko Beads".


Lad'ka Ilková lives in a small village in the Czech Republic. Married, she has two beloved children. Together with his family, in addition to the business, he takes care of a small vineyard and a small herd of goats. He has a degree in surveyor, but he never did this profession as he started making jewelry and his hobby turned into a job.


Where does the name "Ilko Beads" come from? Is it an abbreviation of your surname?

Ilko is the surname, we are Ilko family. We are a small family business and the whole family is in it, parents-in-law incl., they help with a packing, invoicing, translatios to Russian etc..


Before you started this artisanal reality of modular jewelry, what did you do?

We own a business with goldsmith components. My husband Martin created a big part of them. Ilko beads is a section of our family business.


In which year was "Ilko Beads" born?

Never forget it. I created the first hammered silver ball on October 22nd, 2017. It was a custom order. And I has fallen in love.


Do you personally create the beads?

Most of jewels, especially beads, I create from the beginning to the end. Regarding locks for example I use some components I worked with.






When was your passion for modular jewelry born? What was your "first love" among the best known brands?

My passion started in 2017. The first love was Trollbeads then I prefer artisan beads to have something original on my wrist, like "Merce Jewelry", "Arhaik", "Beads in Opera".


What are you inspired by? What are your creations that best reflect your creativity?

Regarding hammered beads, I let my intuition to lead my hands. Every single bead is an original cause every new day brings a different mood, a different power in my hands… The most beautiful beads I create sitting under our big walnut tree nearby our house. I love to work at this place. I am happy hammering beads according to concrete customer´s order. Otherwise new ideas come during nights and in the early morning so I have to have a paper and a pencil nearby my bed.


Almost all your beads have rounded shapes, what does it represent for you?

Planet Earth is rotating around, history is repeating, our lives are rotating…and so I chose this shape for my beads.







Can you briefly describe the creative process, the basic steps? Drawing, wax, casting?

My work is a little bit different. I really do form my beads with a hammer. Some beads are decorated by lasered or milled decors which I have to draw thoroughly.


Besides silver, what other metals do you work?

I love copper too. I think oxidised copper combining with silver is a real beauty.






Have you collaborated with other craftsmen?

There are many talented artisans in Czech Republic. I am happy and proud to co-operate with Michel Rosselli well known as Mr. Bead. His wooden beads are amazing, I love them and wear them very often. I am glad to co-operated with a great Czech lampworker Hana Beranova, brand Arago beads too.






Can you reveal an anticipation of something new that you are creating?

It is hard to create now due to Covid. As a mother of two lively children I have to care for them and I am short of time now… 
I consider new innovations but I don't want to jinx it. I guess you can looking forward to a new year.


A curiosity about you?

Sometimes I think all my life is a big curiosity. But yes, I am interested in Tarot cards and numerology.



I find Lad'ka to be a very concrete woman, rooted in her country, linked to her family, children, animals and nature that surround her and these characteristics can be found in her beads and in the way she creates them. The hammer in her hands synthesizes the power and delicacy she is capable of, as forging a bead through it is an extremely delicate process.






There is also a note of mystery, of confidentiality, of modesty, typical of sensitive people who prefer to speak through their own work, the interest they have for tarot and numerology, highlights this aspect.







The shapes used, mainly round, which he decided to adopt, are very evocative, pleasant to observe and wear.
Some satin beads, at a glance, look like sea pearls, giving light to any composition.











The engravings of the snowflakes are very fine and excellently reproduced.

















 
The round lock reminds me of a full moon intersected by a finely inlaid half moon as if it were lace.
It can also be used on a Trollbeads or other brand bracelet.
 











 
I really like the oxidized and hammered copper bangle, it reminds me of the bark of trees, very pleasant to the touch, when worn it creates a beautiful contrast both with the beads created by Lad'ka and with glass beads from other brands.






To make a comparison and help you if you wish to buy it, the bangle is thinner than the Trollbeads bangle, so the Stops to use must necessarily be its originals.















The soft knit bracelet has a very nice "rope" pattern, which differs from the classic Trollbeads "fox tail". The thickness is greater so the Trollbeads glass beads do not enter the bracelet, only the Universal Unique (with a wider through hole) and all the other beads of different brands. Some silver Trollbeads beads go in, not all of them.


There are also a couple of proposals designed for Valentine's Day or for any other occasion that has to do with love, a round silver bead topped with a heart and a silver bead represented by two intersecting wire hearts.
Lad'ka is always attentive to details and also on this occasion does not fail to give us her touch.
