Per il secondo anno consecutivo, Trollbeads ha indetto il concorso dedicato agli Unici, quei beads in vetro la cui caratteristica è quella appunto di essere degli "unici nel loro genere", ossia esenti da riproduzioni seriali come per i beads a catalogo.
Il contest ha consistito nella partecipazione da parte dei collezionisti ed appassionati di tutto il mondo, che hanno inviato fotografie dei propri unici preferiti, sino a condurre la giuria, composta da altrettanti collezionisti ed appassionati, a votare per raggiungere il numero di sei beads, volti a formare un set.
Chi non ha partecipato da concorrente, come me, ha potuto farlo da giudice e, nel mio caso, sono particolarmente contenta perché ben tre dei beads che avevo votato, hanno vinto.
I sei beads più votati e risultati dunque vincenti, sono i seguenti:

Ho realizzato questo collage con le fotografie originali dei partecipanti al concorso.
Come potete notare, l'Italia quest'anno l'ha fatta da padrone, così come le donne, Gaetano difatti è l'unico uomo ad avere vinto in questo concorso. Va notata inoltre la "doppietta" di Nadia che ha vinto appunto con ben due beads.
Insomma, una annata davvero particolare!
Il set People's Uniques 2021, del team Trollbeads Design Group, risulta essere eterogeneo, tenendo conto del tipo di design, dei colori e di un unico sfaccettato. Il comune denominatore trovo sia la particolarità delle sfumature di colore di ognuno.
Per l'occasione, ho intervistato i cinque vincitori ma prima andiamo a scoprire il set un bead alla volta.
Magica Speranza è un bead caratterizzato da una sorta di reticolato a spirale, in colore azzurro polvere, sovrapposto al fondo variegato grigio sabbia, composto da una moltitudine di micro bollicine e che, in linee sottili, gira anche intorno al bead, la cui copertura è in vetro trasparente.
Rispetto all'originale con cui Nadia ha partecipato al concorso, la produzione differisce, su vari esemplari, nella tonalità di colore e nel reticolato che, in alcuni beads, risulta essere più fitto, senza dubbio differenza data dal fatto che ogni bead viene realizzato a mano.
Nell'insieme un bead che apprezzo e che ho votato, dall'aspetto quasi impalpabile e che ricorda i disegni realizzati con lo spirografo, senza contare la caratteristica del colore che lo rende facilmente abbinabile.
Gigli d'Acqua presenta un fondo blu variegato acquamarina e cinque fiori a quattro petali in color verde oliva chiarissimo, con una "spruzzata" di avventurina che li rende luccicanti; al centro di ogni fiore, a rappresentare il pistillo, una piccola bollicina. Il vetro di copertura è trasparente.
Tra gli esemplari che ho avuto modo di visionare, ho notato differenze nel colore di fondo, dove prevale il blu. Le dimensioni del bead sono piccole.
L'idea di ricreare uno stagno fiorito non credo sia ben riuscita, se questo era l'intento, visto il nome assegnatogli. Nell'insieme gradevole ma, rispetto agli altri beads che compongono il set, di minore impatto.
Spirito d'Avventura si compone di una base verde smeraldo coprente, su cui sormontano, a rilievo, come fossero pennellate materiche, i colori azzurro e verde acqua, seguiti da una sottilissima variegatura bianca.
Questo bead deve essere stato di più difficile replica, poiché diversi esemplari visionati non corrispondono appieno. Va comunque sempre ricordato che vengono realizzati a mano ed eventuali differenze sono da valutare, con opportuna tolleranza, come pregio e non come difetto.

Tra i miei preferiti e che dunque ho votato, di questo bead amo l'irregolarità che si percepisce anche al tatto, i colori che si accostano l'un l'altro come in certi grafismi di Alberto Burri, artista e pittore nato a Città di Castello nel 1915 e deceduto a Nizza nel 1995, pioniere dell'arte Informale. Le sue opere sono esposte in svariati musei d'arte moderna e contemporanea, ad esempio Roma, Napoli, Prato, Bergamo. Nel 2015, a cento anni dalla sua nascita, il Guggenheim di New York gli ha dedicato una mostra intitolata "Burri-centenario", una retrospettiva che ha celebrato la carriera dell'artista con oltre cento opere.

Polvere d'Arcobaleno è l'unico bead sfaccettato del set. Si presenta con base celeste e screziature in rosa, giallo e ambra che circondano il bead, il cui vetro di copertura è azzurro trasparente e sfaccettato.
Confesso che questo bead mi ha piacevolmente colpita visto ora dal vivo, in fase di votazione non aveva catturato la mia attenzione. La sfaccettatura amplifica le sfumature presenti all'interno, creando un gioco di riflessi davvero intriganti.

Qui, tra i beads da me visionati, è davvero difficile trovarne uno uguale all'altro (e questo a mio parere è il suo bello) ma debbo dire che sono tutti molto piacevoli da guardare e indossare.
È una cosa strana quella che sto per rivelarvi. Ogni tanto, seppure di rado, accade che un bead evochi in me un profumo e questo è proprio uno di quei rari casi: il profumo della cipria che tamponava sul proprio viso, prima di uscire di casa, mia nonna Iolanda, mi sembra di sentirlo nell'aria. Un profumo indimenticabile che vede una me bambina osservare incantata quei gesti semplici ma pieni di fascino.

È una cosa strana quella che sto per rivelarvi. Riflessi di Magia si presenta con base bianca lattiginosa coprente e motivi in avventurina ramata a contrasto convergenti al centro, che possono ricordare una sequenza di cuori. Nella riproduzione il design mi sembra essere stato rispettato, con la tolleranza del fatto a mano che va visto come un pregio e non come un difetto.
Il simbolo grafico del cuore da sempre mi ammalia e laddove ne trovo traccia non posso fare altro che ammirarli e, dove possibile, possederli. Sovente anche in natura può capitare di trovare qualcosa che rimandi alla forma del cuore, come il gheriglio di una noce, un sasso, una foglia, una nuvola, la sezione di un tronco d'albero. Dicono che un cuore si manifesta in varie sembianze a chi sta attraversando un periodo difficile nella propria vita o a chi sta cercando risposte dentro se stesso, sarebbe quindi il modo con cui gli angeli intendono far sapere la loro vicinanza. Credenti o no, a chi non è mai capitato di pensare che vedere ripetutamente la forma del cuore non sia un puro caso? Mi piace quindi il concetto che in qualche modo questi cuori siano davvero lì per comunicarci qualcosa, sta a noi interpretarla e, in ogni caso, sarà un momento che avremo dedicato a un poco di introspezione ed all'amore che ci circonda.
Sogno è un bead con base color ambra e una serie di righe orizzontali color avorio, che girano tutt'intorno, alternate da mezze righe screziate in blu ed azzurro. Trovo che per questo bead in particolare, il nome assegnatogli in inglese "Egyptian Stripe" sia particolarmente appropriato, poiché il decoro ricorda senza dubbio il copricapo dei faraoni denominato "claft", un triangolo di stoffa sagomato alle estremità che veniva fatto aderire alla fronte e lasciato scendere sulle spalle e sul petto e che, nelle figurazioni dipinte, è quasi sempre rappresentato con strisce di colore azzurro alternate a strisce giallo-oro, indossato non soltanto dai sovrani ma anche dai funzionari di corte e dagli ufficiali.
Un bead che mi ha colpita a prima vista e che ho votato nel concorso, con la speranza venisse premiato. Elegante e volitivo, ritengo possa dare il massimo in composizioni pregiate con beads in oro, Ambra e pietre sfaccettate quali l'Onice Nero, per creare raffinati contrasti oppure abbinato a blu e rosso, come il Lapislazzuli e la Pietra di Cannella.
Tra tutti, questo è il bead di più grandi dimensioni.
Come dicevo all'inizio, questo set può sembrare eterogeneo, in realtà secondo me qualcosa rende i beads affini, così ho provato a comporre un bracciale utilizzando tutti e sei i vincitori, insieme ad altri beads, cercando di mantenere un filo logico con i colori.

Passiamo adesso alle interviste, iniziando da Nadia Sidoli, che ha vinto con due beads.
Ama viaggiare, è appassionata di jogging e quando ha tempo pratica la pole dance per divertimento. Le piace il collezionismo in genere e la passione per Trollbeads le ha permesso di dare vita ad un gruppo Facebook che amministra insieme a Gaetano.
Nadia, anzitutto sono d'obbligo i complimenti! Ormai sei la "veterana" di questo contest che ti vede vincitrice per il secondo anno consecutivo, insieme a Serena.
Come hai ricevuto la notizia della vittoria?
La notizia della vittoria l’ho ricevuta dal mio amico Gaetano, anche lui vincitore. Successivamente ho ricevuto una e-mail da Trollbeads Danimarca.
Hai partecipato con più beads, hai vinto con ben due di loro: Magica Speranza e Gigli d'Acqua. Erano i tuoi preferiti? Sei soddisfatta di come sono stati riprodotti?
I beads che hanno vinto non erano i miei preferiti, ovviamente mi piacciono molto, al momento dell’acquisto ho faticato abbastanza per trovarli.
Per quanto riguarda la riproduzione non sono pienamente soddisfatta di Gigli d’Acqua, come potete vedere dalle foto il bead vincitore è molto diverso. Per quanto riguarda Magica Speranza sono molto soddisfatta, la lavorazione rispecchia fedelmente il bead vincitore.
Nella intervista che ti feci lo scorso anno, se non ricordo male il tuo inizio con Trollbeads avvenne nel 2011, tramite una amica che ti regalò un bracciale start esclusiva UK, con cui però non scoccò immediatamente la scintilla, ma solamente dopo alcuni anni. Delle collezioni degli ultimi due anni, ad oggi, quale ti ha particolarmente colpita e perché? Puoi mostrare una composizione relativa?
Penso che la collezione più bella in assoluto sia quella di quest’estate, vetri e argenti stupendi, senza contare che ad agosto uscirà il set di vetri bicolore e “diamanti” che ho già prenotato. Non ho composizioni con la collezione estiva perché non li ho ancora acquistati.
Tra i beads che possiedi quale ti rappresenta maggiormente e invece quale bracciale rispecchia appieno la tua personalità?
Tra i beads che posseggo quelli che mi rappresentano di più sono quelli che raffigurano le farfalle, riferito al fatto della trasformazione. Per quanto riguarda la mia personalità, penso che i beads a tema cuore siano i più adatti.
Riguardo il set vincente, c'è un altro bead che ti piace in modo particolare?
Ritengo che il bead più bello in assoluto tra i vincitori sia Polvere d’Arcobaleno.
Il premio che hai ricevuto e che hanno ricevuto anche gli altri vincitori, consiste in due set completi: uno per te e uno da regalare. Hai già pensato a chi eventualmente vorresti donarlo?
Lo avrei regalato, come l’anno scorso, al mio amico Gaetano ma essendo anche lui vincitore devo ancora decidere.
Sempre lo scorso anno ti domandai se avessi suggerimenti per una eventuale nuova edizione del People's Uniques. Ebbene la seconda edizione c'è stata e non mi sembra sia cambiato molto dallo scorso anno…le stesse difficoltà di votazione, scarsa o nulla selezione tra le foto caricate dai partecipanti, a mio vedere. Sono quindi recidivi secondo te Nadia? Cosa andrebbe assolutamente corretto?
Concordo col tuo pensiero, a mio avviso dovrebbero permettere un massimo di proposte a persona, dovrebbero fare una selezione molto più accurata delle proposte stesse e studiare un metodo di votazione nella prima fase più snello e scorrevole. Io ad esempio non sono riuscita a votare alcune mie proposte in quanto mai comparse tra quelle da votare.
Infine, a conclusione di questa intervista, puoi raccontare quale è una delle tue "manie" da collezionista?
La mania più evidente è avere per ogni vetro che mi piace tutte le possibili varianti, colore, sfumatura, piccoli dettagli, ecc.; questo mi ha portata a collezionare anche trenta vetri dello stesso tipo ma tutti diversi.
Grazie Nadia per avere accettato di essere intervistata, nonostante la tua proverbiale riservatezza. L'anno scorso ti dissi che sarei stata curiosa di vedere con quali beads avresti partecipato in una eventuale seconda edizione ma mai avrei immaginato una nuova e duplice vittoria! A questo punto ci diamo appuntamento per il prossimo anno, chissà mai avvenga la tripletta ;-)
Nadia, sempre elegante nei modi, riflette questa sua caratteristica nelle composizioni che si rivelano impeccabili. Le va inoltre riconosciuto che questa vittoria non è frutto soltanto di unici apprezzati ma del merito di averli saputi ritrarre in un ottimo scatto.
Lavora a tempo pieno come impiegata presso un’azienda metalmeccanica e, nei ritagli di tempo, le piace molto leggere, fare fotografie (soprattutto macro), ascoltare musica (dalla classica alla pop), guardare film, prendersi cura del giardino e, ovviamente, trastullarsi con i suoi amati Trollbeads.

Ho ricevuto la notizia dalla cara beads friend Noemi conosciuta come "sayurisan": ricordo che mi ero completamente scordata che era il giorno in cui Trollbeads avrebbe annunciato i vincitori del concorso, quindi ho appreso la notizia con tanta sorpresa e felicità, non me lo aspettavo!

Sei soddisfatta di come è stato riprodotto il bead?
È vero, ho partecipato con diverse foto, ma non avrei mai pensato di vincere con Spirito d’Avventura. A dire il vero, non era tra i miei preferiti, solitamente parteggio più per i colori tenui pastello oppure neutri.
Mettendo a confronto il bead che ho fotografato (che poi si tratta del ricercatissimo unico Onde) con quelli che ho ricevuto in premio, devo dire che sono un pochino interdetta: la riproduzione è più piccina nelle dimensioni e trovo sia troppo omogenea nei colori e nella struttura ed abbia perso quella “fluidità” che caratterizzava il vecchio unico Onde, soprattutto nella parte centrale.
La partecipazione al concorso presuppone passione per il brand, da quanto tempo collezioni Trollbeads e come lo hai conosciuto? Ricordi il primo bracciale che hai composto?
Ho conosciuto Trollbeads nell’estate 2013, per caso: mi ero recata
insieme a mia madre nell’oreficeria di fiducia per sistemare la chiusura
di una sua catenina e il titolare ci mostra un depliant con questa
nuova linea di gioielli componibili: “Guarda, ho anche qualche pezzo da
esporre, giusto per vedere se piace” (ora sono rivenditori Premium
Plus!). Da un sacchettino, ha fatto scivolare qualche argento e qualche
vetro, qualche base morbida e qualche chiusura. È stato amore a prima
vista! Diciamo che l’input l’ha dato mia madre che, a tutti i costi, ha
voluti regalarmi il mio primo bracciale Trollbeads così composto:
argento Maternità, vetro Amore di Nonna e chiusura Merletto (ero
diventata mamma da poco più di un mese).
Tra i beads che possiedi quale ti rappresenta maggiormente e invece quale bracciale rispecchia appieno la tua personalità?
Il bead a cui sono più affezionata è sicuramente l’argento Maternità: è il primo bead su cui ho posato gli occhi, regalatomi da mia madre in un felicissimo periodo del mio percorso. Il bracciale che invece indosso più volentieri è quello con perle, piccoli argenti e bead in oro. Le perle in genere mi sono sempre piaciute molto per la loro luce particolare e semplicità, e trovo molto carino il fatto di poterle alternare con oro e argento per poter personalizzare il mio proprio “essere classico”. Infatti, è una combinazione che indosso spessissimo ed in qualsiasi occasione.
Riguardo il set vincente, c'è un altro bead che ti piace in modo particolare?
Il set People’s Uniques di quest’anno è davvero favoloso: colori e texture si amalgamano bene tra loro e credo accontenti un po’ i gusti di tutti. Se dovessi sceglierne uno in particolare, sceglierei Polvere d’Arcobaleno di Gaetano, anche se prediligo i beads con vetro liscio, la sfaccettatura di questo accentua i bellissimi colori pastello della base, rendendolo leggero e delicato come un soffio. Ritengo sia anche quello la cui riproduzione sia venuta meglio.
Il premio che hai ricevuto e che hanno ricevuto anche gli altri vincitori, consiste in due set completi: uno per te e uno da regalare. Hai già pensato a chi eventualmente vorresti donarlo?
Sì, ho già in mente alcune persone che sarebbero felici di riceverlo!
Per la prossima edizione del People's Uniques, hai un suggerimento da rivolgere a Trollbeads?
Per il prossimo eventuale concorso, consiglierei a Trollbeads di fare una “pre-selezione” delle foto postate prima di far iniziare le votazioni. Sia l’anno scorso che quest’anno, si sono viste troppe foto estrapolate dalla rete e dai social media che non appartenevano alla persona che le postava per il contest. La partecipazione al concorso prevede che il bead sia posseduto da chi posta la foto (infatti devi indicare dove l’hai reperito), pertanto o posti una foto che hai scattato tu personalmente o non posti nulla e dunque non partecipi! Questo è almeno il mio pensiero.
Infine, a conclusione di questa intervista, puoi raccontare quale è una delle tue "manie" da collezionista?
Una delle mie “manie da collezionista” sta nel fatto di non avere mai bracciali già composti. Dopo averli indossati, beads e bracciale devono essere puliti, lucidati, riposti secondo sfumatura di colore per i vetri e secondo tema e grandezza gli argenti. Tutto ordinato e pulito, così, quando riapro la mia scatola delle meraviglie, è già tutto pronto per un’altra avventura!

Confesso però che la tua mania di non avere mai bracciali già composti, mi ha lasciata sorpresa, non lo avrei mai detto! Quindi ampio spazio alla creatività estemporanea, brava!

Non ricordo con quanti beads ho partecipato al concorso, non c’era un limite di pubblicazione quindi ho pensato a caricare nel portale del concorso quelli che desideravo venissero replicati.
Ho vinto con un vetro sfaccettato che hanno chiamato Polvere d’Arcobaleno e, sinceramente, era uno tra i miei preferiti. Temevo non lo riproducessero uguale ed invece mi hanno stupito, è decisamente quasi più bello dell’originale.
La partecipazione al concorso presuppone passione per il brand, da quanto tempo collezioni Trollbeads e come lo hai conosciuto? Ricordi il primo bracciale che hai composto?
Colleziono Trollbeads da circa quattro anni e mi sono avvicinato al brand grazie al regalo di un bracciale da parte della mia famiglia, così composto: chiusura Vento del Cambiamento che rimane ad oggi una delle mie preferite, bracciale a coda di volpe e come primo bead Tronco della Felicità. Per molto tempo l’ho indossato così, povero e semplice.
Tra i beads che possiedi quale ti rappresenta maggiormente e invece quale bracciale rispecchia appieno la tua personalità?
Un bead che mi rappresenta è senz’altro la Medusa in argento. Amo da matti le meduse, mi ricordano, insieme alle stelle, le estati al mare con la mia famiglia, le lunghe passeggiate insieme a mio nonno in riva al mare. Per questo ne ho una infilata in un bracciale di soli argenti, dove ogni bead racconta una piccola storia e un poco della mia personalità, e ognuno di essi mi è stato regalato da persone per me speciali.

Del set People’s Uniques 2021 amo da matti come hanno realizzato il mio sfaccettato e mi piace moltissimo come hanno creato lo Spirograph di Nadia Sidoli, che Trollbeads ha denominato Magica Speranza e che, a parer mio, sono riusciti a riprodurre come quello proposto: linee che richiamano il mare unite ad un fondale sabbioso, stupendo!!! Anche gli altri molto carini. Un po’ deludente quello che i collezionisti chiamano Waves ossia Spirito d’Avventura, di Serena Zamarian, perché non rispecchia a pieno quelli "old" esistenti, troppo tozzo nella forma ma molto bella la colorazione.
Il premio che hai ricevuto e che hanno ricevuto anche gli altri vincitori, consiste in due set completi: uno per te e uno da regalare. Hai già pensato a chi eventualmente vorresti donarlo?
Come da regolamento i vincitori hanno diritto a due set in regalo. Uno per loro e uno per un amico. Ovviamente il mio secondo set sarebbe sicuramente andato a Nadia, se lei non avesse vinto. Considerato che anche lei è una vincitrice, lo terrò per me perché amo avere doppioni o coppie dello stesso bead.
Per la prossima edizione del People's Uniques, hai un suggerimento da rivolgere a Trollbeads?
Bellissima iniziativa quella del People’s Uniques, dà la possibilità a molti di impegnarsi a scattare foto e permette di immortalare la vera bellezza di un bead, dando la speranza a chi lo desidera e non l’ha trovato di poterlo acquistare se riprodotto. Non ho suggerimenti particolari se non il porre un limite alle proposte da caricare per partecipante, e cambiare il metodo di votazione in modo che ognuno possa votare tra tutte le proposte i suoi dieci preferiti, per esempio.
Infine, a conclusione di questa intervista, puoi raccontare quale è una delle tue "manie" da collezionista?
Le manie dei collezionisti sono tante, a me piacciono molto i multipli dello stesso bead nelle composizioni. Una delle mie manie però, può essere il controllare che il bead sia perfetto, assenza di scheggiature e punzonature ben marcate.
Gaetano, all'inizio eri titubante verso questa intervista, poi alla fine ti sei arreso alla mia richiesta e perciò ti ringrazio.

Ho appreso la notizia su di un gruppo Trollbeads di Facebook, non ricordo esattamente quale, ma quando ho visto la foto del mio unico e il mio nome tra i sei vincitori, sono rimasta decisamente senza parole. Successivamente ho ricevuto la comunicazione ufficiale da parte della Danimarca. Tra i finalisti c’erano tanti bellissimi unici, penso tuttora che il mio sia uno tra i più semplici.
Hai partecipato con più beads, hai vinto con Riflessi di Magia, era il tuo preferito? Sei soddisfatta di come è stato riprodotto il bead?
Sì, ho caricato diverse foto. Ho fatto una selezione degli unici che piacevano di più a me e li ho fotografati. Forse non era il mio preferito, ma sicuramente uno di quelli a cui non ho saputo resistere in gioielleria.
Riflessi di Magia è stato riprodotto fedelmente. Ho notato però, già tra i due beads ricevuti in premio, una certa variabilità, di intensità del colore, nei riflessi dorati e nel disegno. Devo dire che l’effetto è comunque bello e molto somigliante all’originale.

Colleziono Trollbeads da cinque anni, non da molto quindi. Provenivo da un altro brand, che però non mi aveva mai completamente rapita. Mentre acquistavo quello che risultò essere l’ultimo dei miei charms, questa persona mi mostrò alcuni pezzi rari Trollbeads, rimasi affascinata dai dettagli e dalla possibilità di raccontare una storia. Fu poi una "trollina" doc a convincermi del tutto (Maria Palma).
Comprai il primo bracciale in gioielleria insieme a mia mamma, aggiunsi subito Rosa di Giugno, il più piccolo ma significativo degli argenti Trollbeads ovvero Rinascita e Quarzo Latteo. Inutile dire che non rimase così spoglio a lungo.

Tra i beads che possiedi quale ti rappresenta maggiormente e invece quale bracciale rispecchia appieno la tua personalità?
È l'argento Vittoria, un acquisto desiderato. Mi ricorda un momento importante della mia vita, ma soprattutto che ogni giorno abbiamo qualche piccola vittoria di cui gioire.
Ovviamente si trova sul bracciale che più mi rappresenta, quello che racconta attraverso ciascun bead, la mia storia.
Riguardo il set vincente, c'è un altro bead che ti piace in modo particolare?
Lo sfaccettato Polvere d’Arcobaleno è molto bello, probabilmente quello che andrà per la maggiore. Ma già dalla proclamazione dei finalisti, ho sperato che Sogno potesse essere tra i vincitori. Sarà una sfida abbinarlo.

Dopo due anni, il concorso potrebbe essere migliorato: tutti ci aspettiamo che sia posta più attenzione nella selezione dei beads. Una “scrematura” da parte dello staff è necessaria ed opportuna, in modo che anche la votazione possa essere più rapida e interessante.

Grazie Raffaella per questa intervista, anche tu sei un poco riservata e comprendo le ragioni ma quando si parla di beads qui è come essere in famiglia, in un certo senso, sicuri di essere compresi nelle proprie frustrazioni ed ossessioni nonché smodate passioni :-D come la tua, ad esempio, che ti porta ogni tanto a volere dei beads che alla fine indossi raramente. Io feci un paio di pazzie agli esordi, ben 13 anni fa, uno scotto che credo tutti più o meno abbiamo pagato, una sorta di "battesimo" dei beads. Da tempo però ormai, come hai detto anche tu, credo che l'occasione giusta, prima o poi, arrivi senza dover compiere follie.

Ho ricevuto una e-mail da Trollbeads che annunciava i vincitori: sono rimasta senza parole…e al settimo cielo quando ho letto il mio nome!
Hai partecipato con più beads, hai vinto con Egyptian Stripe, era il tuo preferito? Sei soddisfatta di come è stato riprodotto il bead?
Sì, in realtà ho inviato alcune foto di beads, ma non mi rendevo conto che questo sarebbe stato il bead vincente. Ho troppi beads preferiti che non riesco a decidere quale. Sono comunque soddisfatta della realizzazione, ha mantenuto la sua unicità ed il suo aspetto raffinato.
Sì, in realtà ho inviato alcune foto di beads, ma non mi rendevo conto che questo sarebbe stato il bead vincente. Ho troppi beads preferiti che non riesco a decidere quale. Sono comunque soddisfatta della realizzazione, ha mantenuto la sua unicità ed il suo aspetto raffinato.

Grazie Reshvin per avere accettato ad essere intervistata! Il tuo Unico vincente è davvero un "sogno" come è stato denominato in italiano, bello e particolare! Sono certa che la tua mamma sarà felice di ricevere in dono questo set, la dedica che le hai fatto la commuoverà, non ho dubbi!
Reshvin ama indossare gioielli ricercati, attraverso composizioni inusuali, mischiando tra loro vari brand, sovente un tocco di oro per rendere più prezioso il bracciale. La caccia ai beads, che dice essere una delle sue manie, è senz'altro proficua e credo sia la parte più bella del collezionismo, cercare e confrontarsi con altre persone che hanno la medesima passione.

Riguardo il People's Uniques 2022, auspichiamo in una versione del concorso più snella sia nel limite massimo di foto con cui partecipare (direi che cinque Unici a partecipante potrebbero essere più che sufficienti) che nella procedura di votazione, un reale controllo delle fotografie inviate dai partecipanti, affinché non si ripetano gli spiacevoli episodi di furto (per questo vi ricordo di firmare sempre, sempre, sempre le vostre fotografie) e che effettivamente siano tutti Unici e non beads in collezione o, peggio ancora, beads in argento che nulla c'entrano con il People's Uniques.
Insomma, un concorso internazionale che piace ma che andrebbe migliorato.

Quest'anno ricorre il 45° compleanno di Trollbeads, nata nel 1976 in Danimarca, e proprio in questo periodo per festeggiare insieme, l'azienda regala un bead a scelta del valore di €45 a fronte di un acquisto minimo di €200.

People's Uniques Trollbeads 2021: interview with the winners
For the second consecutive year, Trollbeads has launched the competition dedicated to the Uniques, those glass beads whose characteristic is precisely that of being "one of a kind", ie exempt from serial reproductions as for the beads in the catalog.
The contest consisted in the participation of collectors and enthusiasts from all over the world, who sent photographs of their unique favorites, up to leading the jury, composed of as many collectors and enthusiasts, to vote to reach the number of six beads, faces to form a set.
Those who did not participate as a competitor, like me, were able to do so as a judge and, in my case, I am particularly happy because three of the beads I voted for, won.
The six most voted beads and therefore winning results are the following:

Compared to the original with which Nadia participated in the competition, the production differs, on various specimens, in the shade of color and in the grid which, in some beads, is more dense, undoubtedly the difference given by the fact that each bead is made by hand.
Overall, a bead that I appreciate and that I voted, with an almost impalpable appearance and reminiscent of drawings made with the spirograph, not to mention the characteristic of the color that makes it easy to match.
Lily Pond has a variegated aquamarine blue background and five flowers with four petals in a very light olive green color, with a "splash" of aventurine that makes them sparkle; in the center of each flower, to represent the pistil, a small bubble. The cover glass is transparent.
Among the specimens that I was able to view, I noticed differences in the background color, where blue prevails. The size of the bead is small.
I don't think the idea of recreating a flowery pond is successful, if that was the intent, given the name assigned to it. Overall pleasant but, compared to the other beads that make up the set, of less impact.

Waterfall consists of an opaque emerald green base, on which the colors blue and aqua green surmount, in relief, as if they were material brushstrokes, followed by a very subtle white variegation.
This bead must have been more difficult to replicate, as several examples viewed do not fully match. However, it should always be remembered that they are made by hand and any differences must be evaluated, with appropriate tolerance, as a value and not as a defect.
Among my favorites and which I therefore voted for, I love the irregularity of this bead that is also perceived to the touch, the colors that match each other as in certain graphics by Alberto Burri, artist and painter born in Città di Castello (Italy) in 1915 and died in Nice (France) in 1995, pioneer of Informal art. His works are exhibited in various modern and contemporary art museums, for example Rome, Naples, Prato, Bergamo. In 2015, one hundred years after his birth, the Guggenheim in New York dedicated an exhibition to him entitled "Burri-centenario", a retrospective that celebrated the artist's career with over one hundred works.
This year, finally, after the intense COVID lawsuit, the museums are open again and from 9 October 2021 to 30 January 2022, an exhibition entitled "Burri - La poesia della materia" will be held at the headquarters of the Ferrero Foundation in Alba (Italy). A great opportunity to get to know or rediscover the artist.
Cosmos Facet is the only faceted bead in the set. It has a light blue base and streaks in pink, yellow and amber surrounding the bead, whose cover glass is transparent and faceted blue.
I confess that this bead has pleasantly struck me seen now live, during the voting phase it had not caught my attention. The facet amplifies the nuances present inside, creating a game of truly intriguing reflections.
Here, among the beads I have seen, it is really difficult to find one identical to the other (and this in my opinion is its beauty) but I must say that they are all very pleasant to look at and wear.
It is a strange thing that I am about to reveal to you. Every so often, albeit rarely, it happens that a bead evokes a perfume in me and this is just one of those rare cases: the perfume of the powder that my grandmother Iolanda dabbed on her face, before leaving the house, I seem to smell it in the air. An unforgettable perfume that sees a child of me watching those simple but charming gestures enchanted.

Egyptian Stripe is a bead with an amber base and a series of horizontal ivory lines, which run all around, alternating with half lines mottled in blue and light blue. I find that for this bead in particular, the name given to it in English "Egyptian Stripe" is particularly appropriate, since the decoration undoubtedly recalls the headdress of the pharaohs called "claft", a triangle of fabric shaped at the ends that was adhered to the forehead and left on the shoulders and chest and which, in the painted figures, is almost always represented with stripes of blue alternating with yellow-gold stripes, worn not only by kings but also by court officials and officers.
A bead that struck me at first sight and that I voted in the contest, with the hope that it would be rewarded. Elegant and strong-willed, I believe it can give its best in precious compositions with beads in gold, Amber and faceted stones such as Black Onyx Bead, to create refined contrasts or combined with blue and red, such as Lapis Lazuli Bead and Hessonite Garnet Bead.
Of all, this is the largest bead.
As I said at the beginning, this set may seem heterogeneous, actually in my opinion something makes the beads similar, so I tried to compose a bracelet using all six winners, along with other beads, trying to keep a logical thread with the colors .

Among the beads I own, the ones that represent me the most are those that represent butterflies, referring to the fact of transformation. As for my personality, I think heart-themed beads are the most suitable.

Also last year I wondered if I had any suggestions for a possible new edition of People's Uniques. Well, the second edition took place and I don't think much has changed since last year… the same difficulties in voting, little or no selection among the photos uploaded by the participants, in my opinion. Are they then repeat offenders in your opinion Nadia? What should absolutely be corrected?
I agree with your thought, in my opinion they should allow a maximum of proposals per person, they should make a much more careful selection of the proposals themselves and study a more streamlined and smooth voting method in the first phase. For example, I was unable to vote on some of my proposals as they never appeared among those to be voted on.

The most obvious craze is to have for each glass that I like all the possible variations, color, nuance, small details, etc.; this led me to collect thirty glasses of the same type but all different.

I heard the news about a Facebook Trollbeads group, I don't remember exactly which one, but when I saw the photo of my only one and my name among the six winners, I was utterly speechless. Subsequently I received the official communication from Denmark. Among the finalists there were many beautiful unique ones, I still think mine is one of the simplest.
You participated with more beads, you won with Golden Fountain, was it your favorite? Are you satisfied with how the bead was reproduced?
Yes, I have uploaded several photos. I made a selection of the ones I liked best and photographed them. Maybe it wasn't my favorite, but certainly one I couldn't resist in jewelry.
Golden Fountain has been faithfully reproduced. However, already between the two beads received as a prize, I noticed a certain variability in the intensity of the color, in the golden reflections and in the design. I must say that the effect is still beautiful and very similar to the original.

The Cosmos Facet is very beautiful, probably the one that will be the most popular. But already from the announcement of the finalists, I hoped that Egyptian Stripe could be among the winners. It will be a challenge to match it.

For the next edition of People's Uniques, do you have a suggestion for Trollbeads?
After two years, the contest could be improved: we all expect more attention to be paid to the selection of the beads. A "skimming" by the staff is necessary and appropriate, so that even the vote can be faster and more interesting.
It's a nice and engaging contest, I hope they can improve it and repeat it.

Finally, at the end of this interview, can you tell us which is one of your "manias" as a collector?
Trollbeads itself is a craze, sometimes I find that I long for pieces that I rarely wear, just for the fun of admiring them. An example? The set of countries diamonds. But I'm also very patient, I'm not willing to go crazy, I know that sooner or later the right opportunity comes.

Thanks Raffaella for this interview, you too are a little reserved and I understand the reasons but when it comes to beads here it is like being in the family, in a certain sense, sure of being included in your frustrations and obsessions as well as inordinate passions :-D how yours, for example, which occasionally leads you to want beads that in the end you rarely wear. I did a couple of crazy things at the beginning, 13 years ago, a price that I think we have all paid more or less, a sort of "baptism" of the beads. For some time now, however, as you have said too, I believe that the right opportunity, sooner or later, arrives without having to commit follies.

Yes. I submitted a few pictures of beads actually but didn’t realise that this bead would be the winning bead. I have too many favourite beads that I can’t decide. I am happy with the new beads. It has its own uniqueness and exquisite look to it.

I started with collecting Pandora and later, in 2017, I found Trollbeads. Since than I have been in love with the designs and uniqueness. The passion of owning these "one of a kind" beads, gave me joy and satisfaction.

If I had to choose the bead that represents me the most, I would say it’s the Three Siblings Beads. It is the one that represents my three children and that until today has given me a smile and a moral charge every time I wore it, to the point that I wear it for important events as it takes on the function of guardian angel. Every bead has a story!

I have a huge collection of beads and like they say, you have seasons for beads. My favorite at the moment is not one but it is the whole People's Uniques 2021 collection. Uniqueness and timeless pieces are perhaps its true beauty.
