THUN by Trollbeads ci sorprende, in piena estate, con una collezione dedicata ai tropici.
La collezione, della designer Lise Aagaard, si compone di un bracciale start, quattro beads in argento e quattro beads in vetro che potremmo definire delle "coppie".
Andiamo dunque a scoprirli nel dettaglio.
Panda con Farfalla è un bead in argento riproducente un panda seduto, con un fiore a decoro vicino all'orecchio destro e tra le zampe una farfalla.
Ben rifinito nei dettagli, comprese le incisioni dei cuscinetti delle zampe, il bead ha il classico appeal delle ceramiche Thun. Segnalo, per chi è attento a questo genere di dettagli, che il piccolo panda tende a rimanere a testa in giù. Per mantenerlo in posizione corretta, sarà sufficiente affiancargli due stop o infilarlo nel bracciale di cuoio.

Pois Panda è un bead in vetro la cui parte centrale bicolore è bianca e nera, il vetro di copertura trasparente con sei pois neri in rilievo, poggiati su di un circolo bianco.
L'aspetto ed i colori rimandano decisamente al vello del mammifero. Un bead versatile che quasi sicuramente verrà apprezzato dagli amanti del B&W.

Leopardo Innamorato è un bead in argento che raffigura un leopardo seduto, le cui macchie sono rappresentate da piccoli cerchi incisi, mentre sulla fronte ha inciso un piccolo cuore. Nella parte posteriore è presente una lunga coda a rilievo. Anche questo bead ha la medesima caratteristica del Panda con Farfalla, ossia che tende a girarsi a testa in giù.

Bouquet Tropicale è un bead in vetro dalla base bianco avorio, con copertura verde chiaro trasparente, sormontata da quattro piccoli fiorellini a cinque petali in rilievo, dai colori giallo/lilla e giallo/glicine.
Si amplia così la proposta dedicata a questo tipo di vetro chiamato "bouquet" che, nelle precedenti collezioni, abbiamo visto declinato in vari colori.
La trasparenza gli conferisce luminosità poiché la luce può passargli attraverso.
Un bead sufficientemente neutrale da trovare facile collocazione in differenti composizioni.

Foglie Tropicali è un bead in argento composto da due piccoli anelli su cui si posano due foglie di foggia tropicale di differente dimensione e tre fiori differenti in forma e dimensione.

Natura Incontaminata è un bead in vetro dalla base bianca lattiginosa e dal vetro di copertura in colore verde lime chiaro. A decoro sottili motivi in color glicine a formare una sorta di zig-zag, affiancati da motivi tondeggianti in giallo limone.

Pappagallo Tropicale è un bead in argento che raffigura un pappagallo nel classico design delle ceramiche Thun, con il suo becco ricurvo, la piccola cresta sul capo e il piumaggio posteriore ben definito. Anche questo pappagallo, come il panda e il leopardo, tende a girarsi a testa in giù.
Il suo motto recita "Vola da me".

Pois Tropicale è un bead in vetro dalla base bianco avorio, con copertura verde chiaro trasparente, sormontata da una serie di pois in rilievo, dai colori giallo limone, lilla e glicine. I pois risultano contornati da una sottilissima linea di colore a contrasto. Si abbina bene con il bead Bouquet Tropicale poiché ha gli stessi colori.
Questa variante ricorda il bead dello start "Bracciale dei Desideri", uscito lo scorso autunno.

Il foro di ingresso degli argenti Panda con Farfalla, Leopardo Innamorato, Foglie Tropicali e Pappagallo Tropicale, ha un diametro maggiore, tale da consentirne l'utilizzo in bracciali più spessi rispetto Thun by Trollbeads, ad esempio il bracciale di Ilko Beads.
Questo dettaglio credo sia interessante per chi abitualmente compone utilizzando beads e bracciali di svariati brand.
Lo start Bracciale Foresta Tropicale si compone di una chiusura in argento, un bracciale a coda di volpe, un bead in argento e un bead in vetro.
La chiusura in argento, liscia e semplice con i classici due moschettoni contrapposti, vede riprodotte a rilievo due foglie, di differente foggia e dimensione ma che ricordano le tropicali, e due fiori a cinque petali ma diversi in forma e dimensione.
Pratica, robusta e funzionale, da qualsiasi parte si giri, mostra un lato piacevolmente decorato.
Sarà perché amo la pianta monstera, e queste foglie la ricordano, la chiusura mi piace molto.
Il bead in argento si presenta con due piccoli anelli a fare da base per sorreggere foglie e fiori; in pratica è una versione ridotta del bead Foglie Tropicali.
Il bead in vetro, dalla base a righe di colore bianco, verde chiaro e verde brillante, ha copertura trasparente sormontata da sei pois a rilievo in color giallo chiaro; i pois risultano contornati da una sottilissima linea di colore a contrasto.
Il suo motto recita "Inizia una storia importante".

La collezione nel suo complesso è graziosa, dal mio punto di vista però mancano, nei vetri, colori più sgargianti, come ad esempio il fucsia o il rosso, che sarebbero più affini al mondo tropicale ricordando certi fiori o il piumaggio dei pappagalli.
I tre beads che prediligo sono: Pois Panda, poiché amo il bianco e nero, Pappagallo Tropicale e Foglie Tropicali. Dello start amo in particolar modo la chiusura, classica nella forma e decorata in modo armonioso.

Quando si dice Tropici si intende la fascia tropicale compresa tra il Tropico del Cancro, a nord, e il Tropico del Capricorno, a sud.
Nella fascia a nord, tra gli altri, si trova il Costa Rica, un paese decisamente affascinante che ha popolato per anni il mio immaginifico di bambina.
Ancora oggi sogno di visitarlo e chissà che prima o poi non si avveri, magari con un cicerone d'eccellenza come Barbara Calanca che, per motivi di famiglia, conosce molto bene il Costa Rica.
Per adesso mi dovrò accontentare di alcune fotografie da lei scattate e, attraverso qualche domanda, scoprire insieme a voi qualcosa in più su questo paese tropicale.

Barbara, se dico "Costa Rica" penso ad una natura incontaminata. Lo è davvero o esiste solamente nell'immaginario di molti di noi?
Sì, è così. La natura in Costa Rica è rigogliosa ed è tra i paesi più eco sostenibili al mondo; in questo piccolo paese è concentrato il 5% della biodiversità terrestre mondiale e il 3,5% di quella marina.
Che i ritmi siano più lenti, rispetto i nostri, è una leggenda o davvero il bradipo incarna lo spirito degli abitanti del paese?
In Costa Rica la vita è scandita da ritmi talmente lenti da risultare frustranti a primo impatto, avere fretta è quasi considerato scortese.
Durante i viaggi e le permanenze in Costa Rica, cosa ha catturato la tua attenzione e cosa continua a sorprenderti?
I colori della natura riescono sempre a stupirmi e mi riempiono gli occhi e l’anima, ma anche l’estrema gentilezza e cordialità del popolo costaricense mi sorprendono ogni volta.

Riguardo la cucina, si mangia bene? Quali sono le pietanze tipiche?
Ormai si trova di tutto, anche se la loro cucina di base è molto semplice: riso, fagioli, pesce, carne, verdure e tantissima frutta. Se soggiorni in Costa Rica devi assaggiare il gallo pinto, il casado, il picadillo e il ceviche.
Il gallo pinto è un piatto a base di riso e fagioli, mescolati insieme, che si consuma prevalentemente a colazione o a pranzo, quindi con aggiunta di uova strapazzate o carne, condito con una salsa agrodolce simile alla panna acida.
Il casado è un piatto unico composto da riso bollito, fagioli neri o rossi come base che, a differenza del gallo pinto, non vengono mescolati insieme, a cui si accompagnano carne o pesce, pomodori, insalata di cavolo, carote, platano e banana fritti. Il platano assomiglia alla banana ma a differenza, non si può mangiare crudo.
Il picadillo invece prevede come ingrediente principale il chayote, una verdura della famiglia delle cucurbitacee, oppure la patata dolce, il platano o la papaya, insieme a carne trita e peperoni, il tutto da accompagnare con riso o tortillas.
Il ceviche è un piatto di pesce fresco e frutti di mare che vengono cucinati a crudo, attraverso la marinatura con succo di limone e succo di lime, a cui vanno aggiunti peperoni e cipolla e qualche erba aromatica. Un piatto unico molto gustoso.

Barbara, facciamo finta di dover organizzare il viaggio, cosa consiglieresti a chi, come me, si reca per la prima volta in Costa Rica? Quali mete da non perdere assolutamente, a cosa fare attenzione, il periodo migliore per visitare il paese?
Mete da non perdere: San Josè, Tortuguero National Park, Parco Nazionale Vulcano Arenal, Monteverde, Riserva Biologica e Foresta Nebulare, Parco Marino Ballena, Parco Nazionale Manuel Antonio, Parco Nazionale Cahuita e Punta Uva dove si trovano le più belle spiagge del Costa Rica.
Attenzione alla micro criminalità sempre più rilevante negli ultimi anni: è consigliabile non perdere mai d’occhio il proprio bagaglio e viaggiare con abbigliamento semplice, comodo e senza accessori.
Le stagioni sono solo due: stagione secca e stagione umida o delle piogge. Per visitare il Costa Rica è consigliabile andare da dicembre ad aprile.

Credo che ad ogni viaggio si porti a casa qualcosa del luogo, non tanto come souvenir, ma come emozioni e come desiderio di apportare alla propria vita qualche piccola modifica che permetta di rivivere le sensazioni provate durante il peregrinare.
Cosa ha cambiato in te il Costa Rica? Hai adottato qualche abitudine in stile "Pura Vida"? Il famoso motto che, se non erro, si trova scritto da molte parti e che sottende a una filosofia di vita semplice, senza ansie, senza fretta, senza arrabbiature.

Pois Tropicale is a glass bead with an ivory white base, with a transparent light green cover, surmounted by a series of raised polka dots, in lemon yellow, lilac and wisteria colors. The polka dots are surrounded by a very thin line of contrasting color. It goes well with the Bouquet Tropicale bead as it has the same colors.

The entrance hole of the silver beads Panda con Farfalla, Leopardo Innamorato, Foglie Tropicali and Pappagallo Tropicale has a larger diameter, such as to allow them to be used in thicker bracelets than Thun by Trollbeads, for example the Ilko Beads bracelet.
I think this detail is interesting for those who habitually compose using beads and bracelets of various brands.
The Bracciale Foresta Tropicale start consists of a silver lock, a foxtail bracelet, a silver bead and a glass bead.
The silver lock, smooth and simple with the classic two opposing carabiners, sees two leaves in relief, of different shape and size but reminiscent of tropical ones, and two five-petaled flowers but different in shape and size.
Practical, robust and functional, wherever you turn, it shows a pleasantly decorated side.
Maybe it's because I love the monstera plant, and these leaves remind it, I really like the closure.
The silver bead has two small rings to act as a base to support leaves and flowers; it is basically a smaller version of the Foglie Tropicali.
The glass bead, with a white, light green and bright green striped base, has a transparent cover surmounted by six light yellow polka dots in relief; the polka dots are surrounded by a very thin line of contrasting color.

The collection as a whole is pretty, from my point of view, however, there are no more gaudy colors in the glass, such as fuchsia or red, which would be more akin to the tropical world recalling certain flowers or the plumage of parrots.
My favorite three beads are: Pois Panda, as I love black and white, Pappagallo Tropicale and Foglie Tropicali. Of the start I particularly love the closure, classic in shape and harmoniously decorated.

What about cooking, is it good to eat? What are the typical dishes?
Now you can find everything, even if their basic cuisine is very simple: rice, beans, fish, meat, vegetables and lots of fruit. If you stay in Costa Rica you have to taste the gallo pinto, the casado, the picadillo and the ceviche.
Gallo pinto is a dish based on rice and beans, mixed together, which is eaten mainly for breakfast or lunch, then with the addition of scrambled eggs or meat, topped with a sweet and sour sauce similar to sour cream.
Casado is a single dish consisting of boiled rice, black or red beans as a base which, unlike gallo pinto, are not mixed together, accompanied by meat or fish, tomatoes, coleslaw, carrots, plantains and fried banana. Plantain looks like banana but unlike it, it cannot be eaten raw.
The picadillo, on the other hand, includes chayote, a vegetable from the cucurbit family, as its main ingredient, or sweet potato, plantain or papaya, along with minced meat and peppers, all to be served with rice or tortillas.
Ceviche is a dish of fresh fish and seafood that is cooked raw, by marinating it with lemon juice and lime juice, to which peppers and onion and some aromatic herbs are added. A very tasty single dish.
Now you can find everything, even if their basic cuisine is very simple: rice, beans, fish, meat, vegetables and lots of fruit. If you stay in Costa Rica you have to taste the gallo pinto, the casado, the picadillo and the ceviche.
Gallo pinto is a dish based on rice and beans, mixed together, which is eaten mainly for breakfast or lunch, then with the addition of scrambled eggs or meat, topped with a sweet and sour sauce similar to sour cream.
Casado is a single dish consisting of boiled rice, black or red beans as a base which, unlike gallo pinto, are not mixed together, accompanied by meat or fish, tomatoes, coleslaw, carrots, plantains and fried banana. Plantain looks like banana but unlike it, it cannot be eaten raw.
The picadillo, on the other hand, includes chayote, a vegetable from the cucurbit family, as its main ingredient, or sweet potato, plantain or papaya, along with minced meat and peppers, all to be served with rice or tortillas.

Barbara, let's pretend we have to organize the trip, what would you recommend to those who, like me, go to Costa Rica for the first time? What destinations not to be missed, what to pay attention to, the best time to visit the country?
Must-see destinations: San Josè, Tortuguero National Park, Arenal Volcano National Park, Monteverde, Biological Reserve and Nebular Forest, Marino Ballena Park, Manuel Antonio National Park, Cahuita National Park and Punta Uva where the most beautiful beaches of Costa Rica are located.
Beware of petty crime that has become increasingly relevant in recent years: it is advisable to never lose sight of your luggage and travel with simple, comfortable clothing and without accessories.
There are only two seasons: dry season and wet or rainy season. To visit Costa Rica it is advisable to go from December to April.

I believe that on every trip you take home something of the place, not so much as a souvenir, but as emotions and as a desire to make some small changes to your life that allow you to relive the sensations experienced during the pilgrimage.
What has Costa Rica changed for you? Have you adopted any "Pura Vida" style habits? The famous motto which, if I am not mistaken, is written in many places and which underlies a simple philosophy of life, without anxieties, without haste, without anger.
Costa Rica is my corner of peace and my little personal paradise.
We should adopt the "Pura Vida" lifestyle in everyday life, but I assure you that two or three days of Milanese life are enough to forget it completely.

Barbara you took away an illusion from me! That we can replicate a lifestyle different from the one in which she usually lives. But maybe that's right too, country you go custom you find.
