Come ogni estate un tormentone musicale accompagna le nostre giornate, così anche un bead vorrebbe fare altrettanto e diventare protagonista nei nostri bracciali.

Di chi sto parlando?

Ma del polpo ovviamente!

Da alcune estati infatti il polpo lo vediamo arrivare, sotto varie forme, in composizioni a tema marino e proposto da vari brands e da vari artigiani tra cui Patty Jansen dall'Olanda.

Patty non solo è una nota collezionista Trollbeads ma è anche designer per passione e creatrice di beads.

Dal 2012 ha partecipato ogni anno al concorso People's Bead Trollbeads, sino al  3 marzo 2019, data della partecipazione, come ultimo anno, con il progetto del "Deep Sea Kraken". Non avendo vinto il concorso, Patty ha deciso comunque di donare vita vera al suo bead e così lo ha messo in produzione. Purtroppo la pandemia che ci ha colpiti ha complicato le cose ed il suo "Deep Sea Kraken" ha impiegato un po' di tempo per vedere la luce, ossia il 21 luglio 2020.

La ispirazione per questo originale bead Patty la ha avuta durante un viaggio nella sua amata Francia, precisamente a Nantes, visitando la casa dello scrittore Jules Verne. L'atmosfera di quella casa, entrando nel mondo dello scrittore e del suo libro "Ventimila leghe sotto i mari", hanno acceso in Patty la lampadina che ha illuminato il progetto, poi divenuto bead in argento e pietra. Sì perché il kraken trattiene tra i suoi tentacoli una sfera in acquamarina, caratteristica davvero originale.

La scelta della pietra non poteva essere migliore, poiché con i suoi colori che variano dal verde all'azzurro, richiama quelli del mare.

 

Osserviamo ora il bead nel dettaglio.

Deep Sea Kraken è un bead di medie dimensioni, in argento, che riproduce le fattezze di un polpo, la cui testa presenta il foro passante, mentre gli otto tentacoli si aprono a ventaglio e trattengono una sfera di acquamarina del diametro di circa cm.1. Come si nota dalla veduta di profilo, alcuni tentacoli compiono delle piccole volute, così da rendere la sinuosità del movimento. Gli occhi prominenti e la testa oblunga conferiscono al polpo un aspetto molto realistico.
L'argento ha una sapiente brunitura che mette in risalto i vari dettagli.

Come ogni bead realizzato a mano, può differire uno dall'altro, in questo caso specifico la reale diversità la si può notare nelle pietre, che variano da un azzurro intenso ad un verde mare molto chiaro, si potrà così scegliere il colore che si preferisce o che si reputa possa abbinarsi meglio con le proprie composizioni.

Deep Sea Kraken costa €55, il foro è piccolo e compatibile con il bracciale a coda di volpe ed il bangle Trollbeads; per chi utilizza Pandora, può essere indossato nella linea di bracciali "Pandora Me".

Mi piace molto questo bead, trovo sia realizzato a regola d'arte, basti guardare la corrispondenza tra il disegno ed il bead finito, inoltre si sposa benissimo con i beads Trollbeads poiché il tipo di argento e la brunitura sono simili ed anche il suo appeal risulta in armonia con i beads del brand danese. Il prezzo ritengo sia davvero ottimo per un bead che possiede anche una pietra preziosa.

 
Come potete notare, il disegno originale di Patty prevedeva una sfera in vetro color Tiffany sormontata da scaglie in color oro.
Sono felice Patty abbia cambiato questo aspetto ed abbia deciso di optare per una pietra, poiché rimane un elemento naturale che ben si sposa con il tema del bead e per il semplice fatto che, indossandola, si potrà beneficiare delle proprietà della acquamarina.

In cristalloterapia infatti questa pietra, il cui nome pare risalire all'epoca romana (mentre in origine era berillo, poiché derivante appunto dalla famiglia dei berilli), produce senso di tranquillità derivato dalla fiducia di potere portare a termine ciò che si intraprende, eliminando la confusione e le questioni irrisolte. Una pietra che favorisce la crescita personale, attraverso lungimiranza e preveggenza, rendendo perseveranti, sinceri e dinamici. A livello fisico invece l'acquamarina migliora la vista e la si può posare direttamente sulle palpebre in caso di dolore agli occhi; attenua l'eccessiva reattività del sistema immunitario, attenua le allergie, in particolare il raffreddore da fieno e armonizza l'attività della tiroide.

Alcune leggende narrano come venisse utilizzata per distinguere il vero dal falso, l'amico dal nemico, senza contare che per i marinai era considerata un vero e proprio amuleto, da indossare affinché le navigazioni fossero sicure e, nel caso in cui si fosse scatenata l'ira di Poseidone, che con il suo tridente scuoteva mari e richiamava tempeste, gli amuleti di acquamarina venivano a lui lanciati come pegno per calmarne la furia.










Se ci soffermiamo sul polpo invece, detto anche piovra, scopriamo che ha delle proprietà fuori dal comune: possiede tre cuori, la capacità di cambiare velocemente colore per mimetizzarsi, oltre che per comunicare con i suoi simili, e può emettere inchiostro nero da un sifone, oscurando la visuale del predatore riducendone anche la capacità olfattiva, per difendersi in caso di attacco e darsi alla fuga. Il cervello non controlla gli otto (o sette) tentacoli con cui si procura da mangiare ma ognuno è indipendente e può ricrescere se viene amputato da un predatore.
Le ventose di cui ogni tentacolo è provvisto, si attaccano ad ogni cosa ma non alla pelle della piovra stessa, perciò non si attorcigliano tra di loro, come invece si potrebbe pensare.
Privo di scheletro, può insinuarsi negli orifizi rocciosi più angusti.

Considerato di grande intelligenza, secondo alcuni ricercatori le sue caratteristiche si sono evolute con la perdita del guscio, che lo ha reso abile nel mimetismo e nella autodifesa. Lo differenzierebbe da altri animali considerati intelligenti, come la balena, il delfino, l'elefante, la scimmia, il fatto che ami stare da solo e non in gruppo, quindi il polpo in sostanza è caratterizzato dalla sua intelligenza, dalla vita breve e dalla asocialità.
Se parliamo di leggende diversamente il kraken è il mostro marino più grande del mondo, dalle sembianze di polpo che ha scaraventato il terrore nei mari, così come lo ha anche immaginato Jules Verne, nel suo "Ventimila leghe sotto i mari", quando l'attacco al Nautilus vede il capitan Nemo salvare il fuciliere Ned Land dai tentacoli.

A proposito del libro Ventimila leghe sotto i mari di Jules Verne, c'è una versione della Gribaudo, tradotta da Stefano Valenti, che mi piace molto sia per il formato, sia per la grafica che per la sovraccoperta: una volta dispiegata, contiene al suo interno un grande disegno in bianco e nero da colorare, con parti che si illuminano al buio, chiamato "mandala sottomarino" che si adatta anche ai bambini, senza contare le bellissime incisioni di Alphonse de Neuville e Édouard Riou che si alternano all'interno del libro. Bead Deep Sea Kraken by Patty Jansen, my review

Like every summer a musical catchphrase accompanies our days, so even a bead would like to do the same and become a protagonist in our bracelets.
Who am I talking about?
But of the octopus obviously!
From some summers in fact the octopus we see it arrive, under various forms, in marine theme compositions and proposed by various brands and various artisans including Patty Jansen from Holland.

Patty not only is a Trollbeads collector note but is also designers for passion and creative of beads.
Since 2012 she participated every year at the People's Bead Trollbeads competition, up to 3 March 2019, the last year in which she participated with the "Deep Sea Kraken" project. Having not won the competition, Patty still decided to donate true life to her bead and so he put it into production. Unfortunately the pandemic that struck us has complicated things and the "Deep Sea Kraken" of her spoke some time to see the light, namely in 21 July 2020.
The inspiration for this original bead Patty had it during a trip to her loved France, precisely to Nantes, visiting the house of the writer Jules Verne. The atmosphere of that house, entering the world of the writer and the book of him Twenty thousand Leagues under the Seas, have lit in Patty the light bulb that illuminated the project, then became bead in silver and stone. Yes because the Kraken holds a sphere in aquamarine among his tentacles, a truly original feature.
The choice of the stone could not be better, since with its colors ranging from green to blue, it draws those of the sea.

Now look at the bead in detail.

Deep Sea Kraken is a medium-sized bead, in silver, which reproduces the features of an octopus, whose head has the pass-through hole, while the eight tentacles open to a fan and retain a sphere of aquamarine of the diameter of about cm.1 . As you notice from the view of profile, some tentacles make small volutes, so as to make the sinuosity of the movement. The prominent eyes and the oblong head give the octopus a very realistic appearance.
Silver has a wise burning that highlights the various details.

Like each bead made by hand, it may differ from each other, in this specific case the real diversity can be seen in the stones, which vary from an intense blue to a very clear sea green. In this way you can choose the color you prefer or consider it can best match your compositions.

Deep Sea Kraken costs € 55, the hole is small and compatible with fox-tailed bracelet and Trollbeads bangle; for those who use Pandora, it can be worn in the "Pandora Me" bracelet line.

I really like this bead, I find it made to perfection, just look at the correspondence between the design and the finished bead, it also goes very well with the Trollbeads beads because the type of silver and the burnishing are similar and also its appeal. it is in harmony with the beads of the Danish brand. The price I think is really good for a bead that also has a precious stone.

As you can see, Patty's original design included a Tiffany-colored glass sphere topped by gold-colored flakes.
I am happy Patty has changed this aspect and decided to opt for a stone, as it remains a natural element that is well married with the theme of the bead and for the simple fact that, wearing it, we can benefit from the properties of aquamarine.

In fact, in crystall therapy this stone, whose name seems to go back to the Roman era (while it was originally Beryl, since deriving precisely from the Beryl family), produces a sense of tranquility derived from the confidence of being able to complete what is undertaken, eliminating the confusion and unresolved issues. A stone that favors personal growth, through foresight and clairvoyance, making persevering, sincere and dynamic. At the physical level, on the other hand, the aquamarine improves the view and can be placed directly on the eyelids in case of eye pain; reduces the excessive reactivity of the immune system, reduces allergies, in particular the hay cold and harmonizes thyroid activity.

Some legends tell how it was used to distinguish the true from the false, the friend from the enemy, not to mention that for the sailors it was considered a real amulet, to wear so that the navigations were safe and, in the event that the wrath of Poseidon had triggered, which with his trident he shook seas and called storms, the amulets of aquamarine were launched as a pawn to calm the fury.

If we dwell on the octopus instead, we discover that it has properties out of the ordinary: it has three hearts, the ability to quickly change color to camouflage, as well as to communicate with its similar ones, and can emit black ink from a siphon, obscuring the predator's view also reducing the olfactory capacity, to defend himself in the event of an attack and get to the escape. The brain does not control the eight (or seven) tentacles with which he get to eat but everyone is independent and can grow up if it is amputated by a predator.
The suction cups of which each tentacle is provided, stick to everything but not to the skin of the octopus herself, so do not twist between them, as one might think.
Skeleton-free, can be suggested in the most cramped rock orifices.

Considered of great intelligence, according to some researches his characteristics have evolved with the loss of the shell that made them adapted in mimicry and self-defense and would differentiate it from other animals considered intelligent, such as the whale, the dolphin, the elephant, the monkey, the fact that he love being alone and not in a group, so the octopus in essence is characterized by its intelligence, from short waist and asociality.
If we talk about legends otherwise the Kraken is the largest marine monster in the world from octopus's appearance that has thrown terror in the seas, as it has also imagined Jules Verne, in his "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas", when the attack on the Nautilus he sees Captain Nemo save the Ned Land riflier by tentacles.

About the book "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas" of Jules Verne, there is an Italian version of the Gribaudo, translated by Stefano Valenti, which I really like both for the format, and for the graphics and for the book jacket: once deplears, it contains to the its interior a large design in black and white coloring, with parts that light up in the dark, called "submarine mandala" which also adapts to children, without counting the beautiful engravings of Alphonse de Neuville and Édouard Riou alternating inside of the book.
