Trollbeads: Desiderio del Cuore, recensione della nuova collezione natalizia - Trollbeads: Evergreen Divine, review of the new Christmas collection

Trollbeads nelle ultime collezioni ci ha insegnato a non dare nulla per scontato.

Siamo abituati ad associare ad ogni stagione alcuni colori che la natura ci offre, così come siamo abituati a pensare alle ricorrenze attraverso canoni prestabiliti e simboli evocativi.

L’azienda danese invece prova a scardinare queste certezze proponendo, per questo Natale, una collezione decisamente insolita, che non vede i classici rossi e verdi farla da padrone come nelle rappresentazioni tipicamente natalizie.

La collezione Desiderio del Cuore fa il suo debutto il 5 novembre e ingloba l’intramontabile tema dell’amore a quello della tradizionale festività, con un rimando all’arte barocca.

Addentriamoci insieme scoprendo uno ad uno gli elementi che la compongono, per verificare se sono riusciti nell’intento.

Le referenze sono sedici: quattro beads in argento, uno stop in argento, un bead in argento con pietra, cinque beads in vetro sfaccettati, un bead in vetro, uno stop in oro, un bead in oro e due chiusure in argento con pietre.

Barocco è un bead in argento di forma tondeggiante, riproducente motivi di foglie e volute che si intrecciano, tipici dell’omonimo movimento artistico. I fori passanti sono delimitati da piccole palline che arricchiscono il bead di media dimensione. La classica brunitura dona enfasi ai dettagli.

Come forse saprete, amo i bead di forma tonda, li ritengo versatili sia su bracciale che su collana, si mostrano sempre nella loro bellezza ed interezza poiché non hanno “lati”.

Barocco in particolare trovo sia elegante e romantico al tempo stesso, adatto quindi a più temi e composizioni.

Segnalo che i fori passanti permettono l'ingresso anche di un bracciale a maglia più spessa del classico Trollbeads, come ad esempio il bracciale di Ilko Beads.

Stop Barocco è in argento e, in misura ridotta e di forma più stretta, riproduce i medesimi motivi di foglie e volute dell’omonimo bead. Anche questo stop è delimitato, nei fori passanti, da una serie di piccole palline. Al suo interno un anello in gomma nera permette al bead di rimanere fermo nel bangle o nella collana.

Questo stop che fa coppia con l’omonimo bead, lo vedo perfetto sia nella collana che nel bangle, è molto decorativo.

Cherubino dell’Amore è un bead in argento che raffigura in posa seduta un cherubino appoggiato ad un cuore.

I dettagli di questi tre beads sono minuziosi, dai capelli alle ali, alle espressioni del viso alle pose. La classica brunitura li rende ancora più definiti.

Quello che preferisco è Cherubino dell’Amore, con la posa forse più complessa delle tre. 

Molto grazioso anche Cherubino della Protezione, non è dato sapere però perché proprio un gatto tra le braccia e non un cane o un orsacchiotto. I gatti sono stati rappresentati in molti modi differenti da Trollbeads, i cani non altrettanto. Speriamo colmino questa lacuna.

Gli appassionati ed i collezionisti di lungo corso, ricorderanno i puttini legati ai numeri. Potrebbe quindi sembrare una sorta di ripetizione questo trio, però il design è molto diverso e, per chi ama il genere, questi cherubini sono delle piccole opere d’arte. 

Segnalo che i fori passanti dei tre cherubini, permettono l'ingresso anche di un bracciale a maglia più spessa del classico Trollbeads, come ad esempio il bracciale di Ilko Beads.  

Dono della Perseveranza è un bead misto, ossia in argento e pietra preziosa. L’Occhio di Tigre Rosso sfaccettato, qui si trova incastonato su due lati del bead in argento, trattenuto anche da due piccole griffe che si allungano verso il centro del bead dando vita ad un motivo a croce contornato da piccole borchie.

Questa volta, a differenza delle collezioni precedenti, il bead presenta la stessa pietra da ambo le parti e tale dettaglio può giocare a favore per una composizione senza troppi problemi di abbinamento.

Il dettaglio pregevole trovo sia la sfaccettatura che dona sempre molta eleganza. 

Desiderio Verde è un bead in vetro sfaccettato, la cui base risulta essere in giallo chiaro trasparente, con motivi di sottili onde in colore verde brillante che girano intorno, sormontati dalla avventurina dorata.

Desiderio Blu è una variante colore del precedente, dove al posto del verde troviamo il colore blu e come colore di base un giallo più intenso.

Desiderio Dorato è un bead in vetro sfaccettato, la cui base risulta essere in giallo paglierino trasparente, sormontato da motivo di onde tutt’intorno in avventurina dorata.

Dei tre beads la variante che preferisco è la blu, che a mio gusto si distingue per raffinatezza a contrasto con la base dorata.

Giardino d’Inverno è un bead in vetro sfaccettato a base bianca su cui si posano quattro fiori a cinque petali tondeggianti, con la classica piccola bolla centrale. Il colore dei fiori, alternato, è verde bosco e marrone, sormontati da avventurina che dona il classico effetto glitter.

I toni di colore dei fiori sono forse più autunnali che invernali e il bead nel suo insieme trovo sia in netto contrasto con il resto della collezione, ma ci sarà sempre modo di abbinarlo diversamente. 

Riflesso del Bosco è un bead realizzato con il vetro "avventurina", una particolare lavorazione inventata a Murano (Italia) nel 1600 circa. Si tratta di un impasto traslucido al cui interno sono immerse pagliuzze o cristalli di rame che creano l'effetto che imita il quarzo avventurina (varietà di calcedonio con piccole inclusioni che catturano la luce dando vita al fenomeno di "avventurescenza"). La tonalità di questo bead è, come chiamata in gergo, “avventurina verde”, un verde scuro illuminato dalle pagliuzze.

Questo bead va ad aggiungersi a “Riflesso del Deserto” (avventurina rossa) e “Riflesso dell’Oceano” (avventurina blu)  realizzati nello stesso tipo di vetro e facenti parte della collezione natalizia del 2020.

La sfaccettatura enfatizza il colore di questo vetro e la sua particolare avventurescenza, un bead che incontra i miei gusti, per donare un tocco dark a qualsiasi composizione.

Fuochi Festosi è il bead celebrativo di Capodanno in Edizione Limitata, terzo di una serie iniziata nel 2019 con “Cascata di Luci” e “Nuovo Inizio” nel 2020. Questa versione ha sempre base nera ma sormontata da disegni di fuochi d’artificio bicolori, bluette e ocra rossa, con sprazzi in avventurina ramata.

Probabilmente quest’anno avremmo tutti preferito un bead differente per celebrare il 2022, qualcosa di nuovo, invece abbiamo una terza variante sul tema fuochi d’artificio che comunque, alla lunga, potrebbe rivelarsi la migliore delle tre.

Stop Simmetria è in oro, traforato e sormontato da piccole borchie. Al suo interno un piccolo anello in gomma nera permette al bead di rimanere fermo nel bracciale o nella collana. Le borchie ricordano lo “Stop Punto e a Capo” in argento.

Vischio dei Desideri, Oro è un bead appunto in oro raffigurante un ramo di vischio.

I beads e gli Stop in oro di Trollbeads sono realizzati a 18 carati, il costo è dunque elevato, basti pensare alla differenza che intercorre tra due beads di identica fattura ma di diverso materiale. Per fare l’esempio prendo il bead Nodo della Fortuna. In argento il suo costo è di €35, in oro  €380.

Va da sé che diventa impossibile fare un paragone ma l’oro ha sempre il suo fascino e può bastare, in una composizione, un unico bead per illuminare e impreziosire un bracciale o una collana. Come enfatizzazione dei dettagli però l’argento brunito non ha eguali ed io preferisco di gran lunga potere apprezzare i dettagli di un bead.

Chiusura Perseveranza risulta essere mista, ossia in argento e pietra preziosa. Troviamo infatti, nella classica forma con i due moschettoni contrapposti, incastonata a cabochon una pietra sfaccettata Occhio di Tigre Rosso per parte. A decoro alcune piccole borchie, due fiorellini e motivi a goccia in rilievo.

Di questa chiusura apprezzo praticità e robustezza, trovo il design accattivante e perfetto nell’insieme della collezione.

Chiusura Desiderio come la precedente risulta essere mista, ossia in argento e pietra preziosa; su di un lato è incastonato a cabochon un Onice Verde, dall’altro lato è raffigurato il volto di un elfo.

In questa chiusura a prima vista avevo identificato il volto di una mezza luna, non quello di un elfo, e francamente continuo a vederci la mezza luna. Ma il bello dei beads alla fine è anche questo…che ognuno può vederci qualcosa di diverso. La manifattura è eccellente, poiché il volto si integra alla perfezione nella modellatura della chiusura, e qui si riconosce la inconfondibile mano del designer Søren Nielsen.

Nell’insieme questa collezione che a colpo d’occhio di natalizio ha ben poco, in realtà con la sua ispirazione al periodo barocco, rimanda a tempi di sfarzo, di feste e l’oro, che già da alcuni anni sta cercando di imporsi nel mondo dei gioielli, inizia così a fare capolino anche tra i vetri con tonalità calde e fredde, creando un piacevole contrasto con l’argento. Un Natale alternativo quindi, ogni tanto bisogna osare e abbandonare la propria zona di comfort.

Dopotutto il vantaggio di questa collezione è che i suoi beads potranno essere utilizzati anche in altri periodi, proprio perché non prettamente natalizi.

Se comunque siete affezionati all’idea del rosso a Natale…sarete accontentati perché venerdì 12 novembre ci sarà la release del nuovo start Ispirazione Fiaba d’Inverno che vede un bead in vetro sfaccettato rosso protagonista.

  

Se penso al barocco, ricordo i tempi della scuola, quando studiavo storia dell’arte e storia del costume, ed era uno di quegli stili artistici che mi destavano sentimenti contrastanti. Da un lato ammirazione per la sinuosità che definiva le opere, come ad esempio le foglie di acanto che, magistralmente riprodotte intersecate tra loro, mi affascinavano molto, dall’altro biasimo per una sorta di teatralità e manierismo quasi grotteschi di uno stile che pareva ambire ad uno sfarzo senza inibizioni.  

Sfarzo che si poteva notare anche nell’abbigliamento sia maschile che femminile, la moda infatti subì una notevole trasformazione. I calzoni corti a sboffo lasciarono il posto a quelli alla bernese, detti anche alla moschettiera, poiché adottati dai moschettieri, il corpo di guardia del re di Francia; i baveri delle mantelle, ornati di pizzo, erano aumentati di dimensione arrivando a coprire le spalle e le camicie avevano maniche lunghe ancora più ampie, con polsini di pizzo a raggiera, su cui veniva indossato un bolero abbottonato. Per le donne invece iniziarono a delinearsi gli abiti a due pezzi, con corpetti a baschina e tre gonne sovrapposte, denominate modesta, friponne e segreta. Modesta, quella esterna, dall’orlo ornato con passamaneria, in broccato o velluto o seta; friponne (termine francese che significa civettuola), in genere molto lussuosa, di raso o cotone stampato, e per metterla in risalto le falde della modesta venivano sollevate ai fianchi e fermate da nastri, dando vita a dei panneggiamenti; segreta, la più interna, in tessuto a tinta unita di cotone. Scomparirono i colletti a gorgiera, detti anche alla Stuarda, per lasciare il posto ad ampie scollature.

C’era dunque un fil rouge tra il mondo artistico e quello della moda ma la curiosità è che l’oreficeria all’epoca subì un declino, quindi non più collane d’oro al collo delle signore ma di perle, cammei d’avorio o madreperla e orecchini formati da una catenina reggenti un piccolo grappolo di perle a goccia. In contrasto con lo sfarzo degli abiti, i gioielli erano dunque più sobri.

Se poi si pensa alle chiese, anch’esse sono state oggetto di espressione dell’arte barocca.

Nella cittadina dove abito, Mirandola (in provincia di Modena), ce n’é una che la rappresenta appieno, si tratta della Chiesa del Gesù.

Voluta dai Duchi Alessandro I Pico e successivamente da Alessandro II, fu costruita nel XVII secolo, dal 1621 al 1689. L’interno si presenta ad una sola navata, con tre nicchie per parte, capitelli e cornicioni scolpiti in puro stile barocco, così come i due altari lignei, uno dedicato al SS. Crocefisso ed uno dedicato alla Beata Vergine del Rosario per mano dello scultore Paolo Bonelli, due indiscussi capolavori.

Purtroppo con i due terremoti che colpirono Mirandola nel 2012, la Chiesa del Gesù con il tetto parzialmente crollato, a tutt’oggi è in attesa di restauro. La casualità del destino ha voluto che, nel crollo, il pavimento venisse sfondato in un paio di punti, rivelando una cripta sotto l’altare maggiore di cui non si era a conoscenza.

Nel libro “L’anima della mia città” di Vanni Calanca, alcune pagine sono dedicate alla Chiesa del Gesù, con fotografie a prezioso ricordo.

Trollbeads: Evergreen Divine, review of the new Christmas collection

Trollbeads in the latest collections has taught us not to take anything for granted.

We are used to associating each season with some colors that nature offers us, just as we are used to thinking about recurrences through pre-established canons and evocative symbols.

The Danish company, on the other hand, tries to undermine these certainties by proposing, for this Christmas, a decidedly unusual collection, which does not see the classic reds and greens dominate as in typically Christmas representations.

The Evergreen Divine collection makes its debut on November 5 and incorporates the timeless theme of love with that of the traditional holiday, with a reference to Baroque art.

Let's go into it together, discovering the elements that make it up one by one, to check if they have succeeded in their intent.

There are sixteen references: four silver beads, a silver stop, a silver bead with stone, five faceted glass beads, a glass bead, a gold stop, a gold bead and two silver locks with stones.

Baroque is a round shaped silver bead, reproducing motifs of leaves and spirals that intertwine, typical of the homonymous artistic movement. The through holes are delimited by small balls that enrich the medium-sized bead. The classic burnishing emphasizes the details.

As you may know, I love round-shaped beads, I consider them versatile both on a bracelet and on a necklace, they always show themselves in their beauty and entirety since they have no "sides".

Baroque in particular I find both elegant and romantic at the same time, therefore suitable for multiple themes and compositions.

I point out that the through holes also allow the entry of a thicker bracelet than the classic Trollbeads, such as the Ilko Beads bracelet.

Baroque Spacer is in silver and, to a smaller extent and narrower in shape, reproduces the same motifs of leaves and scrolls as the bead of the same name. This spacer is also delimited, in the through holes, by a series of small balls. Inside a black rubber ring allows the bead to remain stationary in the bangle or necklace.

This stop that is paired with the bead of the same name, I see it perfect both in the necklace and in the bangle, it is very decorative.

Cherub of Love is a silver bead that depicts a cherub leaning against a heart in a seated pose.

Cherub of Reflection is a silver bead that depicts a cherub in a sitting pose cross-legged, with one hand holding his chin, thoughtful.

The details of these three beads are meticulous, from the hair to the wings, to the facial expressions to the poses. The classic bluing makes them even more defined.

My favorite is Cherub of Love, with perhaps the most complex pose of the three.

Very nice also Cherub of All Living, it is not known, however, why a cat in the arms and not a dog or a teddy bear. Cats have been portrayed in many different ways by Trollbeads, dogs not so. We hope they fill this gap.

Long-time enthusiasts and collectors will remember the cherubs linked to numbers. This trio might therefore seem a sort of repetition, but the design is very different and, for those who love the genre, these cherubs are small works of art.

Red Halo is a mixed bead, that is silver and precious stone. The faceted Red Tiger's Eye, here is set on two sides of the silver bead, also held by two small prongs that stretch towards the center of the bead, creating a cross motif surrounded by small studs.

This time, unlike the previous collections, the bead features the same stone on both sides and this detail can work in favor for a composition without too many problems of matching.

The valuable detail I find is the facet that always gives a lot of elegance.

Ornate of Green is a faceted glass bead, whose base is in transparent light yellow, with motifs of subtle waves in bright green that go around, surmounted by golden aventurine.

Blust of Blue is a color variant of the previous one, where instead of green we find the blue color and a more intense yellow as a base color.

Filigree of Shimmer is a faceted glass bead, whose base is in transparent straw yellow, surmounted by a wave pattern all around in golden aventurine.

Of the three beads, my favorite variant is blue, which to my taste stands out for its refinement in contrast with the golden base.

Snow Blossom is a white-based faceted glass bead on which four rounded five-petaled flowers are placed, with the classic small central bubble. The alternating color of the flowers is forest green and brown, surmounted by aventurine that gives the classic glitter effect.

The color tones of the flowers are perhaps more autumnal than winter and I find the bead as a whole to be in stark contrast to the rest of the collection, but there will always be a way to combine it differently.

Faceted Green Goldstone is a bead made with "aventurina" glass, a particular process invented in Murano (Italy) around 1600. It is a translucent mixture inside which specks or copper crystals are immersed that create the effect that imitates Aventurine quartz (variety of chalcedony with small inclusions that capture the light, giving life to the phenomenon of "adventurescence"). The hue of this bead is, as it is called in the jargon, “green aventurine”, a dark green illuminated by the specks.

This bead is in addition to “Faceted Goldstone Bead” (red aventurine) and “Faceted Blue Goldstone Bead” (blue aventurine) made of the same type of glass and part of the 2020 Christmas collection.

The facet emphasizes the color of this glass and its particular adventures, a bead that meets my tastes, to give a dark touch to any composition.

New Year Fireworks is the New Year's Celebration Bead in Limited Edition, the third in a series that began in 2019 with “Happy New Year Bead” and "New Year Celebration Bead” in 2020. This version always has a black base but topped with two-tone fireworks designs, bluette and red ocher, with flashes of coppery aventurine.

Probably this year we would all have preferred a different bead to celebrate 2022, something new, instead we have a third variant on the fireworks theme which, in the long run, could prove to be the best of the three.

Symmetric Spacer Gold is in gold, perforated and surmounted by small studs. Inside, a small black rubber ring allows the bead to remain stationary in the bracelet or necklace. The studs are reminiscent of the “Dot to Dot Spacer” in silver.

Trollbeads gold beads and spacers are made in 18 karats, so the cost is high, just think of the difference between two beads of identical workmanship but of different material. To give an example, I'll take the “Lucky Knot Bead”. In silver its cost is €35, in gold €380.

It goes without saying that it becomes impossible to make a comparison but gold always has its charm and a single bead may be enough in a composition to illuminate and embellish a bracelet or necklace. As an emphasis on details, however, burnished silver has no equal and I much prefer to be able to appreciate the details of a bead.

Red Tiger Eye Lock appears to be mixed, that is, in silver and precious stone. In fact, in the classic shape with the two opposing carabiners, a faceted Red Tiger's Eye stone on each side is set in a cabochon. A few small studs, two small flowers and drop-shaped embossed motifs are decorated.

I appreciate the practicality and sturdiness of this lock, I find the design attractive and perfect in the collection as a whole.

Santa’s Elf Lock like the previous one is mixed, that is in silver and precious stone; on one side a Green Onyx is cabochon set, on the other side the face of an elf is depicted.

In this lock at first sight I had identified the face of a half moon, not that of an elf, and frankly I still see the half moon in it. But the beauty of the beads in the end is also this ... that everyone can see something different in them. The workmanship is excellent, as the face integrates perfectly into the shaping of the lock, and here we recognize the unmistakable hand of the designer Søren Nielsen.

Overall, this collection, which at a glance at Christmas time has very little, in reality with its inspiration from the Baroque period, refers to times of pomp, parties and gold, which for some years has been trying to establish itself in the world of jewels, thus begins to peep out even between glasses with warm and cold shades, creating a pleasant contrast with silver. An alternative Christmas therefore, every now and then you have to dare and leave your comfort zone.

After all, the advantage of this collection is that its beads can also be used in other periods, precisely because they are not purely Christmas.

However, if you are fond of the idea of red at Christmas ... you will be satisfied because on Friday 12 November there will be the release of the new Poinsettia Wish Bracelet start which sees a red faceted glass bead as the protagonist.

If I think of the Baroque, I remember the days of school, when I studied the history of art and the history of costume, and it was one of those artistic styles that aroused mixed feelings in me. On the one hand, admiration for the sinuosity that defined the works, such as the acanthus leaves which, masterfully reproduced intersecting each other, fascinated me a lot, on the other I was blamed for a sort of almost grotesque theatricality and mannerism of a style that seemed to aspire to an uninhibited splendor.

Splendor that could also be seen in both men's and women's clothing, fashion in fact underwent a significant transformation. The short puffed trousers gave way to those in the Bernese style, also known as the musketeer, since they were adopted by the musketeers, the guard body of the king of France; the collars of the capes, decorated with lace, had increased in size to cover the shoulders and the shirts had even wider long sleeves, with radial lace cuffs, over which a buttoned bolero was worn. For women, instead, two-piece dresses began to take shape, with basque bodices and three overlapping skirts, called modest, friponne and secret. The external one is modest, with a border decorated with trimmings, in brocade or velvet or silk; friponne (French term which means flirtatious), generally very luxurious, in satin or printed cotton, and to highlight it, the flaps of the modest were raised at the hips and stopped by ribbons, giving life to draperies; secret, the innermost, in plain cotton fabric. The ruff collars, also called the Stuarda, disappeared to give way to wide necklines.

There was therefore a common thread between the artistic world and that of fashion but the curiosity is that the goldsmith's art at the time suffered a decline, so no longer gold necklaces around the neck of the ladies but of pearls, ivory cameos or mother-of-pearl and earrings formed by a chain holding a small cluster of pear-shaped pearls. In contrast to the pomp of the clothes, the jewels were therefore more sober.

If you then think of churches, they too have been the object of expression of Baroque art

In the town where I live, Mirandola (in the province of Modena, Italy), there is one that fully represents it, it is the Church of the Jesus.

Commissioned by the Dukes Alexander I Pico and later by Alexander II, it was built in the seventeenth century, from 1621 to 1689. The interior has a single nave, with three niches on each side, capitals and cornices carved in pure Baroque style, as well as the two wooden altars, one dedicated to the SS. Crucifix and one dedicated to the Blessed Virgin of the Rosary by the hand of the sculptor Paolo Bonelli, two undisputed masterpieces.

Unfortunately, with the two earthquakes that hit Mirandola in 2012, the Church of the Jesus with the partially collapsed roof is still awaiting restoration today. The randomness of fate meant that, in the collapse, the floor was broken through in a couple of points, revealing a crypt under the main altar of which no one was aware.

In the book "L’anima della mia città" by Vanni Calanca, some pages are dedicated to the Church of the Jesus, with photographs as a precious memory.
