È da poco iniziato il nuovo anno e Trollbeads, come di consueto, per dare il benvenuto alla ormai imminente primavera, non ci delizia soltanto con una collezione dedicata ma anche con uno start, ovvero un bracciale composto da quattro elementi, che serve appunto per dare vita ad un nuovo gioiello e ad una nuova storia da raccontare, in modo vantaggioso.

Perché vantaggioso? Perché il prezzo è promozionale, quindi inferiore rispetto all’acquisto dei singoli componenti.

Il Bracciale Bellezza del Cambiamento difatti costa €119 anziché €190.

Inoltre, trattandosi di Edizione Limitata, questa tipologia di bracciale offre ai collezionisti la opportunità di possedere qualcosa di esclusivo, che non si potrà trovare riprodotto a catalogo.

Sicuramente un notevole risparmio, che invoglia a un nuovo inizio, un gioiello da comporre man mano e da indossare donandogli il proprio personale significato, raccontando una storia, quella che ognuno di noi intende narrare attraverso i beads.

Il motto del Bracciale Bellezza del Cambiamento è: “Come la metamorfosi della farfalla insegna, il cambiamento è bellezza”.

Ma andiamo ora a scoprire insieme, nel dettaglio, questo nuovo start.

Il bracciale è a maglia morbida in argento, detto anche a "coda di volpe", la cui misura sarà possibile scegliere in base alle proprie esigenze.

Il bracciale parte da una misura di cm.14 sino a cm.24, quindi per ogni tipologia di polso.

La chiusura, in argento, ricorda il modello Semplice, liscio e con i classici due moschettoni contrapposti. Su ambo i lati è posizionata, a rilievo, una farfalla in volo con fine incisione delle ali. In aggiunta, su ogni lato della chiusura, sono presenti delle piccole borchie in rilievo, come gocce di rugiada.

Ritengo molto azzeccata la scelta di una chiusura così pratica e robusta per uno start, poiché i neofiti del marchio potranno approcciarsi senza difficoltà.

Seppur chiusura dal semplice appeal, le due farfalle sono ben realizzate e la arricchiscono.

Il bead in argento, si compone di due anelli su cui si posano tre farfalle in volo e alcune gocce di rugiada, con il medesimo design della chiusura.

Grazioso, seppur di medio/piccole dimensioni si fa notare, e la brunitura ne enfatizza i dettagli.

Il bead in vetro presenta base in azzurro chiaro, fiamme verdi e bianche da un lato e dall’altro motivi ad arco in colore verde oliva, a rappresentare i sepali dei fiori. La copertura è in vetro trasparente su cui a decoro si trovano tre fiori a cinque petali in verde oliva; al centro di ognuno piccolo pistillo a rilievo in avventurina ramata.

Un design differente da altri proposti e il colore, tutto sommato abbastanza neutro, può essere abbinato facilmente a contrasto o tono su tono.

Nell’insieme il bracciale è molto piacevole, anche se non posso non evidenziare come il tema farfalle sia stato appena trattato nella collezione primavera  “Giardino delle Meraviglie”, farfalle peraltro con lo stesso identico design. Senz’altro hanno voluto dare continuità alla collezione con uno start che ne ricalca forme e colori, ma collezionisti ed appassionati, forse, avrebbero preferito qualcosa di completamente diverso, proprio per evitare l’effetto déjà vu.

Il prezzo, seppur vantaggioso rispetto l’acquisto dei singoli componenti, risulta essere più caro a confronto dello start uscito lo scorso autunno, che costava €109. Personalmente fatico a giustificare il motivo dell’aumento, essendo i componenti molto simili per fattura. 

L’elemento che prediligo è il bead in vetro, sia per colore, sia per design, nonostante dalle foto istituzionali (lo ammetto) non mi avesse particolarmente colpita. Vedendolo dal vivo ne ho invece apprezzato il suo non essere banale, ricco di piccoli dettagli a partire dal pistillo in rilievo.

Come potrete notare dalle fotografie che ho scattato, i beads in vetro presentano piccole differenze uno dall’altro, come del resto tutti i vetri che, essendo realizzati a mano, hanno questa peculiarità.

Alcuni hanno l’azzurro più marcato, altri più chiaro, i fiori sono in verde ma alcuni riportano un contorno bianco che li fa risaltare un poco di più, io comunque li preferisco senza.

Ricordo anche che il colore dei beads può variare a seconda della luce da cui vengono illuminati, che sia naturale o artificiale, fredda o calda.

Vi ho detto che sono rimasta piacevolmente colpita dal bead in vetro e così, da appassionata di fiori qual sono, ho fatto una ricerca per trovare una verosimiglianza con il fiore riprodotto sul bead. La mia ricerca ha portato i suoi “frutti” conducendomi proprio al frutto selvatico, ed al suo fiore, chiamato “Cocomero asinino”, ossia l’elatèrio, una erbacea perenne che si trova principalmente nei litorali del Mediterraneo, tra terreni sabbiosi e incolti e tra le macerie.

I fiori a cinque petali di questa erbacea, sbocciano da marzo a settembre, il frutto, che nella forma ricorda un piccolo cocomero, è ricoperto da setole ispido spinose e contiene numerosi piccoli semi oblunghi immersi in una polpa mucillaginosa che, con l’avanzare della maturazione, diviene più liquida. In questo modo aumenta la pressione interna del frutto che, al più piccolo urto, letteralmente esplode proiettando i piccoli semi sino a 2-3 metri di distanza, favorendo così la propagazione della specie. La polpa del frutto contiene un succo molto amaro e tossico con azione purgativa piuttosto violenta, da qui infatti prende anche il nome di “sputaveleno”.

Saranno attratte le farfalle da questo fiore del cocomero asinino?

Mi piace pensare di sì, e le immagino volare leggiadre da uno all’altro, in quel mutamento che da bruco le ha viste trasformarsi in pura bellezza.

La bellezza del cambiamento, qualunque esso sia, metaforico o letterale, nonostante un pizzico di mestizia poiché, come scriveva Anatole France “Tutti i cambiamenti, anche i più attesi, hanno la loro malinconia, perché ciò che lasciano dietro di noi è parte di noi stessi, dobbiamo morire in una vita prima di poter entrare in un'altra”, perché non sempre è facile cambiare vita, cambiare pelle, sebbene consapevoli del bello che può attenderci.

The new year has just begun and Trollbeads, as usual, to welcome the now imminent spring, delights us not only with a dedicated collection but also with a start, that is a bracelet composed of four elements, which serves precisely to give life to a new jewel and a new story to tell, in an advantageous way.

Why advantageous? Because the price is promotional, therefore lower than the purchase of the individual components.

The Beauty of Change Bracelet costs €119 instead of €190.

Furthermore, since it is a Limited Edition, this type of bracelet offers collectors the opportunity to own something exclusive, which will not be reproduced in the catalog.

Surely a considerable saving, which invites you to a new beginning, a jewel to be composed gradually and to wear giving it its own personal meaning, telling a story, the one that each of us intends to tell through the beads.

The motto of the Beauty of Change Bracelet is: “Change is the essence of life; be willing to surrender what you are for what you could become. - Reinhold Niebuhr -”.

But let's now go and discover together, in detail, this new start.

The bracelet is in soft silver mesh, also called "fox tail", the size of which can be chosen according to your needs.

The bracelet starts from a size of 14 cm up to 24 cm, therefore for every type of wrist.

The clasp, in silver, recalls the Plain model, smooth and with the classic two opposing carabiners. A butterfly in flight is placed in relief on both sides with a fine incision on the wings. In addition, on each side of the clasp, there are small studs in relief, like dew drops.

I think the choice of such a practical and robust clasp for a start is very appropriate, since newcomers to the brand will be able to approach it without difficulty.

Although clasp with a simple appeal, the two butterflies are well made and enrich it.

The silver bead consists of two rings on which three flying butterflies and a few drops of dew are placed, with the same design of the closure.

Graceful, albeit of medium/small size, it stands out, and the burnishing emphasizes the details.

The glass bead has a light blue base, green and white flames on one side and arched motifs in olive green on the other, representing the sepals of the flowers. The cover is in transparent glass on which three five-petaled flowers in olive green are decorated; in the center of each small pistil in relief in coppery aventurine.

A different design from others proposed and the color, all in all quite neutral, can be easily combined with contrast or tone on tone.

Overall, the bracelet is very pleasant, although I cannot fail to highlight how the butterfly theme has just been dealt with in the “Flower Garden” spring collection, butterflies with the exact same design. They certainly wanted to give continuity to the collection with a start that follows its shapes and colors, but collectors and enthusiasts, perhaps, would have preferred something completely different, precisely to avoid the déjà vu effect.

The price, although advantageous compared to the purchase of the individual components, is more expensive compared to the start released last fall, which cost €109. Personally, I struggle to justify the reason for the increase, as the components are very similar in terms of manufacture.

My favorite element is the glass bead, both in color and in design, although I was not particularly impressed by the institutional photos (I admit). Seeing it live, I appreciated its not being banal, full of small details starting from the pistil in relief.

As you can see from the photographs I took, the glass beads have small differences from each other, as indeed all the glasses which, being handmade, have this peculiarity.

Some have a more pronounced blue, others lighter, the flowers are green but some have a white outline that makes them stand out a little more, however I prefer them without.

I also remember that the color of the beads can vary depending on the light from which they are illuminated, whether natural or artificial, cold or warm.

I told you that I was pleasantly impressed by the glass bead and so, as a flower enthusiast that I am, I did a search to find a likelihood with the flower reproduced on the bead. My research has borne its "fruits", and flower of course, leading me to the wild fruit called “Squirting cucumber”, Latin name Ecballium elaterium, a perennial herb that is found mainly in the Mediterranean coasts, between sandy and uncultivated soils and rubble.

The five-petaled flowers of this herbaceous bloom from March to September, the fruit, which resembles a small watermelon in shape, is covered with bristly thorny bristles and contains numerous small oblong seeds immersed in a mucilaginous pulp which, with the advancement of maturation, it becomes more liquid.

In this way, the internal pressure of the fruit increases which, at the slightest impact, literally explodes, projecting the small seeds up to 2-3 meters away, thus favoring the propagation of the species. The pulp of the fruit contains a very bitter and toxic juice with a rather violent purgative action, hence it also takes the name, in Italian, of “spits poison”.

Will butterflies be attracted to this Squirting cucumber?

I like to think so, and I imagine them flying gracefully from one to the other, in that change that from a caterpillar has seen them transform into pure beauty.

The beauty of change, whatever it is, metaphorical or literal, despite a hint of sadness since, as Anatole France wrote “All changes, even the most longed for, have their melancholy; for what we leave behind us is a part of ourselves; we must die to one life before we can enter another”, because it is not always easy to change life, to change skin, despite the awareness of the beauty that can await us.

For the occasion Trollbeads has created a small brochure that through text and images, briefly describes its philosophy and illustrates how to start and continue the composition of a customizable bracelet.
